I look at myself in the mirror inspecting my outfit for the third time. I wasn't one to dwell on the clothes I was wearing, but for some reason, I didn't feel comfortable with the various outfits I took out.

I ended up going with a white shirt littered with tiny pink flowers along with some lose high waisted jeans.

"Lana!" I hear Red call out right before a pebble hit my bedroom window.

I peak my head out the window with a big smile. "Get your butt down here we gotta go." She rushes me.

Grabbing my bubblegum pink backpack I fly down the stairs screaming a bye to my mom in the kitchen.

I hop on her handlebars as she begins to peddle off.

The warm breeze hit my face in a soothing manner. "Where are we going?" I shout out to Red tightening my grip on the bars as she speeds up.

"You'll see. It's going to be fun don't worry." The bike leaned to the right making a smooth turn into a grassy wooded street.

I closed my eyes taking in the cooler air due to the shade the trees gave. We began to slow down then came to a complete stop. I open my eyes to see a private property sign hanging from a chain in front of us.

"We're going to have to walk it from here." I push the sign to the side allowing her to push her bike in.

The crunching of the leaves beneath our feet startled birds around us making them flutter their wings away. A beautiful song being shared between them.

The deeper in the woods we got a glimpse of a lake coming into view. The reflection of the sun made the water glisten. I immediately felt a peaceful feeling begin to submerge my body.

"It's breathtaking." My hand reaches out to feel the cool leaves slip through my fingertips.

Red turned to look at me with a big smile before taking my other hand and running off pulling me along her side.
"Cannonball!" She yelled before dragging me into the warm water.

She released my hand once our bodies were fully soaked in the water. Her head peaked up from under the water to meet me.

"Can I ask you something?" I ask as I try my hardest to keep myself afloat. She nods her head while twirling around and soaking the sun.

"When you first walked into the book store you seemed so timid. What's changed?" I question her with something I had been wondering all of last night.

"You...I don't know. I've never clicked with someone like this before. It's like we were meant to meet each other and be friends. It sounds stupid I know, but it's just crazy how comforting your presence is. That can't just be a coincidence."

My heart began to race. I felt my face heat up and go red. Not knowing how to react I nod and allow myself to sink for a couple of seconds.

The sun had begun to set, painting the sky orange and pink. " We should get going, Red." I looked over at her sitting against a tree log reading Romeo and Juliet.

I've never understood the fuss about this generic love story. It doesn't make sense how on earth do you manage to fall in love with someone you've just met nevertheless throw everything away to be with them. I mean how do you build a bond so strong with someone you don't even know.

A cool breeze hit my ankles as I sat on the handlebars of the yellow bike. "Hey, you know what would be fun?" She leans her chin on my shoulder as she peddles away. I let out a small 'huh' indicating her to continue speaking.

"We should totally have a sleepover. I can show you all of my tapes!" The bike makes a turn to the left as she speaks making me tighten my grip on the bars below me.

"Yeah, sure. But can we stop at my house to ask my mom and get my stuff?" She nods her head taking the shortest path to my house.
