Hermione Petrified

Andromeda's POV

So a lot has happened since Christmas. Where to begin? Hermione is finally out of the hospital wing. There have been no more attacks on anyone. Dolores Umbridge passed a new law that makes it almost impossible for werewolves to get a job. Honestly, people like her make me sick.

Then there was Valentine's day *shudder* Everything with pink and Lockhart had dwarves dressed as cupids delivering cards, chocolate and songs to people. From their admirers. I got over a dozen from Slytherin boys. Then several from Gryffindor, and one each from Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff. It was embarrassing, I'm only a second year for Merlin's sake.

Anyway it's May 8th and exams are only a few weeks away. I've been studying hard. Praying I do better then Hermione. So that I won't be sent away. Today is Gryffindor's match against Hufflepuff. Hermione invited me to join her. But I really have to study.

"There you are, the match is going to begin in ten minutes" Draco states as he enters our common room.

"It's Gryffindor against Hufflepuff" I state.

"Yes and whoever wins. Goes against slytherin for the quidditch cup" he tells me.

"I understand that, but I have to study. If I want to beat Hermione in four classes and not tie with her" I tell him.

"Otherwise you'll be sent to another school" he says. "Which school?" he asks me.

"Beauxbatons Academy of Magic" I tell him. "I don't want to go there Draco. You and our parents are here. My friends are here" I say sadly.

"You'd still be able to write" he tells me. "But you need a break from studying, come to the match. I'll study with you afterwards" he states.

"Can I at least take my Potions book?" I ask him. He nods his head. So I grab my book and we leave the common room. We just reach the entrance hall when his friends appear.

"What's going on? Why aren't you guys at the match?" Draco asks them.

"Match was cancelled, there's been another attack" Theo states. I grip my moon bracelet. A horrible jolt going through my heart.

"Sis, you ok?" Draco asks me.

"Somethings wrong with Hermione" I whisper so only he can hear. Just then our head of house joins us.

"Miss Malfoy come with me, the rest of you return to the Slytherin common room. We will be there shortly" he states. They leave and he leads me to the hospital. Where I run to Hermione's side and tear up.

"Hermione" I say gripping her petrified hand. Just then McGonagall appears with Harry and Ron. They join me at Hermione's side. "How did this happen? I though she was at the match with you" I say looking at Ron.

"She had a brainstorm and ran to the library" he says sheepishly.

"She was found near the library with Miss Clearwater" McGonagall says nodding to the blonde haired ravenclaw beside Hermione. "Along with this, does it mean anything to the three of you?" she asks us. We shake our heads.

"It's time to return to your common rooms. We have new rules to announce" Snape states. I didn't want to leave Hermione. McGonagall leaves with the boys. "I know you care for her as a sister Miss Malfoy. But she would not want you staying here when you have studies to do" he tells me.

"You're right, can I visit her daily?" I ask him hopeful.

"Only if I can find a professor to bring you, it's one of the new rules" he tells me. We leave the hospital wing and return to the slytherin common room. Everyone looks at him while I go sit next to my brother leaning into him. He wraps an arm around me looking confused.

"Who was attacked professor?" Pansy asks.

"A sixth year Ravenclaw prefect called Penelope Clearwater and a second year gryffindor named Hermione Granger" he states. Draco pulls me onto his lap rubbing my back. "In light of this recent attack, there are new rules" he tells us and takes out a piece of parchment.

"All students will return to their House common rooms by six o'clock in the evening. No student is to leave the dormitories after that time. You will be escorted to each lesson by a teacher. No student is to use the bathroom unaccompanied by a teacher. All further Quidditch training and matches are to be postponed. There will be no more evening activities" he reads.

"I must tell you. It is likely that the school will be closed, unless the culprit behind these attacks is caught. I would urge anyone who thinks they might know anything about them to come forward" he tells us. "Good day" he says before leaving.

"I'm sorry Andromeda" Draco whispers in my ear.

"She's not dead, merely petrified" I tell him. "I should of been there, maybe I could of done something" I state.

"There was nothing you could of done" he tells me.

"Snape says I can see her daily, as long as a teacher is available to take me" I tell him. "Can we discuss something else? I don't want to think about Hermione being petrified" I state. He nods his head. We start to talk about potions and our other classes.
