We just received our new book lists for the year and train ticket. Our parents have decided to take us to Diagon Alley. Draco is getting a special gift from Father as he is joining the Quidditch team this year. So mum has decided to get me something also. But won't tell me what it is. Anyway I'm not thrilled at the book list as we have to get all the Lockhart books. I don't see what's so great about him, I don't believe he did all those things. But Father is making Draco and I get them.
Father has been acting strange lately, more secretive. I've seen Dobby punishing himself, for what? I have no idea. As far as I'm aware he has not done anything wrong. Draco has had friends over, while I haven't. But I have visited a few with mum's help. I even spent a weekend with my aunt and her family. Anyway right now I'm in my room relaxing when Draco enters the room.
"Andromeda, father says it's time to go" Draco tells me. I'd just been reading a letter from Hermione. Apparently she'd be in Diagon Alley today with her parents, Harry and the Weasleys. "Who's the letter from?" he asks me curious.
"Hermione, she'll be at Diagon Alley today" I tell him quietly.
"Great" he mumbles as we head downstairs. We arrive in the living room and our parents apparate us to Diagon Alley. Father and Draco leave mother and I. Draco promised to meet me in the book store. Mum and I went to the bank, where I spot Hermione.
"Hermione!" I cheer and she looks at smiling broadly. We run to each other and hug tightly. "I'm riding with you on the train right?" I ask her.
"Of course, along with the other two" she tells me.
"Are they here yet?" I ask her.
"I haven't seen them, mum and dad are exchanging money" she tells me.
"Andromeda dear, I'll go get money. You may hang out with your friend" mum tells me.
"Thanks mum, your the best" I tell her smiling. We'd gotten a lot closer of the summer. We even had lunch with my aunt in secret together. I'm glad they're reconnecting. And that mum is letting me be with my friends even though Father would disown me if he knew.
"You're mother is beautiful" Hermione tells me.
"She is and you should see her first thing in the morning" I tell her with a giggle.
"Did you see Lockhart is doing a signing at the book store today?" she asks me.
"No" I tell her.
"I can't believe we'll get to meet him, he wrote nearly an entire book list" she says giddily.
"Tell me you're not a fan of his?" I ask her.
"Aren't you?" she asks me.
"Certainly not" I tell her frowning. "If I had my way, I wouldn't be buying his stupid books" I tell her. Just then two adults join us.

"Mum, dad this is the girl I've been telling you about. Andy these are my parents Jean and John Granger" Hermione tells me.
"Pleasure to meet you both" I say with a curtsy smiling.
"What well mannered young lady" Mr Granger says smiling.
"Hermione is right, you both do look a lot a like" Mrs Granger says smiling.
"It's obvious where Hermione gets her looks from" I state smiling at her.
"Andromeda, time to go!" mum calls.
"Gotta go, see you on the train Mione" I say hugging her. "Pleasure to meet you both, goody day" I say to her parents.
"You have a good day to darling" Mrs Granger tells me with a smile. I leave and run over to mum. We leave the bank.
"Go meet your brother at the book store, you're father will meet you both there" she tells me. I nod my head and we part ways. I meet Draco and he drags me upstairs. We watch the autograph signing. I spot Harry, Hermione, her parents and the Weasleys near the front of the group.
Just then Harry is pulled forward to stand beside Lockhart as the photography takes a photo of the pair. Lockhart then announces how he is going to be the new defense teacher this year at Hogwarts. "I'm so not going to his classes, it's bad enough we have to buy his books" I tell Draco.
"Come on, father will be here soon" Draco tells me. We start to head downstairs and spot the others heading for the door. Of course Draco just had to comment on what happened. "I'll bet you loved that, didn't you, Potter? Famous Harry Potter!Can't even go into a bookshop without making the front page" he sneers.
"Leave him alone" a red haired girl tells him firmly. She must be Ginny, the twins told me about her and how she's starting at Hogwarts this year. Something tells me she has a crush on Harry.
Father's cane appears on Draco's shoulder and pushes him to the side. "Now, now Draco, play nicely" he tells him. He then spots Harry. "Mr. Potter... Lucius Malfoy. Wemeet at last. Forgive me, your scar is legend, as, of course, is the wizardwho gave it to you" he says admiring Harry's lighting bolt scar.
"Voldemort killed my parents. He was nothing more than a murderer" Harry states stepping away from my dad.
"You must be very brave, to mention his name...or veryfoolish" Father says.
"Fear of a name only increase fear of the thing itself" Hermione states. I smile secretly, my best friend is so wise.
"And you must be... Miss Granger. Yes, Draco's told me allabout you, and your parents. Muggles, aren't they?" he asks her. I clutch my fists how dare he talk to her that way. I go to snap at him, but Draco gives me a look. So I hold my tongue. "Let me see...red hair...vacant expressions... tatty second hand book. You must be the Weasleys" he says looking at them. Just then Mr Weasley joins us.
"Children, it's mad in here! Let's go outside" he says not noticing us.
"Well, well, Weasley senior" father says. Mr Weasley looks up at my father.
"Lucius" he says.
"Busy time at the Ministry, Arthur, all those extra raids? I dohope they're paying you overtime, but judging by the state of this, I'd saynot" father says examining Ginny's book. He puts it back in her cauldron. "What's the use in being a disgrace to the name of wizard if they don'teven pay you well for it?" he asks Mr Weasley.
"We have a very different idea about what disgraces the nameof wizard, Malfoy" Mr Weasley tells him.
"Clearly" father drawls. "Associating with Muggles... and I thought your familycould sink no lower. I'll see you at work" he tells Mr Weasley. "Come along children" he tells Draco and I.
"See you at school" Draco and I say. Then follow Father out of the shop. Our books would be delivered to us. Mum meets up with us with a short-eared owl in a cage.
"Here you go Andromeda dear, your very own owl. So you don't have to borrow Draco's anymore" she says handing it to me.
"But I can only take one pet to school" I remind her as I take the cage.
"Lucius spoke to the other governors, they've allowed it for you to take Coco and the owl to school. Just don't tell any of the other students" she tells me smiling. I smile and we go home. I name the owl Odette.
