Receiving Detention

Andromeda's POV

It's been a couple of weeks since Norbert hatched. A couple of days ago I was burned when practicing the fire charm. I treated it myself and kept it secret from Draco. But Norbert was getting to much, so it was decided tonight he'd leave. Friends of Charlie Weasley (Ron's older brother, who works with Dragons in Romania) will be taking Norbert to a dragon sanctuary in Romania.

Harry and Hermione are taking Norbert to the Astronomy tower. As Ron is in the hospital wing recovering from the bite Norbert had given. Apparently Norwegian Ridgeback's have venomous fangs. So I decided to do more research on them. Even though Norbert is leaving, I wanted to learn more about him. So here I am reading a book on the Norwegian Ridgeback at midnight.

Suddenly someone grabs my arm dragging me away from my book. "Draco, I have to study" I whine at my twin.

"Not now, we're going to get Harry Potter expelled" he tells me.

"What?!" I exclaim as we leave the common room.

"I know that dragon burned you and they are sending it away tonight. We're going to catch them and turn them in" he states.

"Draco I was burned while practicing the fire charm" I tell him.

"You don't need to lie" he tells me. "Once Potter is gone and hopefully the mudblood, you can make some new friends" I pull my arm out of his grip. We'd reached the astronomy tower.

"Is that what this is about?!" I demand glaring at him. "I thought you were ok with me being friends with them. As long as I kept it secret" I state.

"Andromeda, you're a pureblooded Slytherin and a Malfoy. Show a little respect for our proud heritage" he tells me.

"I am proud, of out aunt Andromeda. The woman I was named after, who is my godmother. I am proud of our cousin Tonks, who is an auror. And I am proud to call a muggleborn my best friend" I tell him. Suddenly Draco goes pale and I turn to see Professor McGonagall. "Professor, we..." I try to explain why we're out of our dorms after curfew.

But she grabs Draco by the ear and be by the arm. She starts to drag us to her office. "Detention and twenty points from Slytherin! Wandering around in the middle of the night, how dare you both" she says.

"You don't understand, Professor. Harry Potter's coming -- he's got a dragon!" Draco shouts.

"Draco, how can you be so stupid to believe there was a dragon?" I demand.

"What utter rubbish! How dare you tell such lies! Come on -- I shall see Professor Snape about you, Malfoy!" she states. She takes us to Snape's office. He looks at us with disappointment.

"Yes, what have they done?" Snape asks her.

"I caught them in the Astronomy tower arguing, also Draco is raving about a dragon" she tells him. "I have taken twenty points from Slytherin and given them both detention" she explains. "I'll inform them tomorrow what they'll be doing for detention" she states before leaving.

"Professor Snape, I'm so sorry we disappointed you" I tell him. Not looking into his eyes.

"Draco return to the common room at once and no detours. Or you'll get a weeks worth of detention" Snape tells him.

"What about Andromeda?" Draco asks him.

"I wish to have a word with her, leave" Snape orders and Draco leaves. "Take a seat Andromeda" he tells me and I do so. "What were you and Draco arguing about?" he asks me.

"He found out I was friends with Hermione, Ron and Harry a couple of weeks ago. He said he was fine with it as long as I was happy. He promised not to tell our parents. But tonight he wanted to try get them expelled. He said I'm a pureblooded slytherin and a Malfoy. And should act like one. Be proud of our heritage" I explain.

"What did you say back?" he asks me.

"That I was proud of being related to Aunt Andromeda and Tonks. That I was proud to call a muggleborn my best friend" I tell him.

"I'm glad you stood up for yourself" he tells me.

"I just thought he was on my side and was happy for me. But he's clearly not" I say sadly.

"He'll come around, he looks up to your father and wants to make him proud. He wants his father to be proud of you too and not to lose you. He is scared" he tells me.

"I understand that, it doesn't make me any less sad though" I tell him. "Can I go now? I have studying to do" I state.

"Of course, but first take this" he says handing me a jar. "You maybe a natural healer, but still a beginner. Use that on your burn twice a day and it'll disappear by Wednesday" he tells me. I smile in thanks and leave saying goodnight.

I return to the common room and pick up my discarded book. I go up to my dorm and change into my pjs. I put the ointment on my burn and then brush my teeth. I crawl into bed beside Coco and fall asleep.
