Kingdom of the Red Rose (Episode 52 of 62) Chapter Twenty-One: A Deal with the Devil (Part 1 of 2)
Nathaniel's soul rose from his body and witnessed what his mortal eyes could not.
"I cannot believe this little shit was able to kill my minion!" The succubus raged at Edward's body as her pet appeared next to her.
The brothers had already regrouped and picked up Nathaniel's body, but the soul had escaped and now roamed free.
"I'm sorry mistress. He was stronger than we expected. He is a skilled fighter, perhaps he will make a good soldier for Master," the pet replied.
"Perhaps, but he will have to wait about five hundred years for his soul to reform," the succubus went to lash out at Nathaniel.
"Ah, ah, ah. Lekiana, we cannot touch him. That was the deal," a second pet Demon appeared and grabbed the succubus by her wings and held her back.
Griffin found this very unusual. Lekiana looked to be a powerful succubus, and both of the other lesser Demons appeared to be her pets. It was inconceivable that one of them would dare oppose his mistress's wishes. That was when Griffin noticed a disturbing detail of the second Demon. His eyes glowed yellow. This was not just the succubus's pet. This was Lucifer, the lord of the underworld, controlling the body of the succubus's pet.
"But master, this measly human ruined my whole plan. Years of trying to take control of the right people and start this war. All those souls we would have collected lost thanks to this one pathetic soul. Let me tear him apart!" The succubus twisted and turned, threatening to break off her own wings as she tried to reach Nathaniel's soul.
"He has already given us plenty of souls, Lekiana."
"Yes, the army I spent years forming!" her feet dug deep into the ground as she tried to escape the Demon's hold.
"You see this?" Lucifer said out loud. It did not seem he was talking to anyone in particular. "I might be the root of all evil in the world, but I'm a God that keeps his word. Let this serve as proof that I intend to honour our agreement, Emma."
Both pet Demons attacked the succubus and in a matter of seconds Lekiana fell to the ground immobilized. The second pet Demon proceeded to devour the mana released from the succubus's body. All Demons were careful to devour as much mana as possible before their victims imploded and disappeared. The first pet stood up and the soul of Emma appeared next to him.
"As long as you do not accept his soul into Hell, then I'm yours," Emma said, and Lucifer chuckled in pleasure.
A chain wrapped Nathaniel's soul and pinned him to the ground, by Lekiana's bleeding body, before he could attack Lucifer. A spear landed on the ground and pinned the Demon that was still consuming mana. Archangel Gabriel landed behind Nathaniel, pulled out the spear and attacked the Demon that Lucifer controlled. The Demon dodged all spear thrusts from the Archangel and hovered mid-air, while holding Emma in his hands.
