FINALLY A CHAPTER NAME THAT DOESN'T HAVE THREE WORDS

Thank you so much Bangbang_jes for spamming me with messages to write more, and telling me irl, I appreciate it 🤦‍♀️

Anyway some info from this chapter is false.

Kaz walked to the restaurant, deep in thought. Once he was a couple feet away, he saw Inej's parents heads buried in a map of Ketterdam, trying to figure out which building was which.

He walked up to them, and greeted them. "Mr and Mrs Ghafa." He did a slight now of the head.

Inej's parents looked up, and beamed at the boy, glad to see somebody they recognized. "Kaz! What are you doing here?" Mrs Ghafa exclaimed.

"Inej has asked me to assist her in a tour of our city. You look lost. May I escort you to the restaurant?" Kaz asked.

Inej's parents nodded and they started chatting about random stuff on their way to the restaurant. They entered and the waiter didn't wait for them to ask for a table, he hurriedly directed them to Inej.

Kaz sat down on the chair to the left of Inej, and her parents sat down on her other side.

They ordered food and talked about Ketterdam, and things about the city.

Kaz and Inej's minds never left each other. They were both thinking about each other, and not realizing the love they both felt for each other.

Midway through their meal, Kaz decided to go to the bathroom.

Inej felt so free talking to her parents, and talking to Kaz at the same time.

When Kaz went to the bathroom, she turned to her parents to talk about more family stuff.

But her parents had other ideas in mind.

Her mother, who was sitting right next to her, touched Inej's arm. "You said this is they boy who saved you?" She started with. Inej nodded, confused. Mrs Ghafa smiled. "Well Inej, he is a fine young man, if I do say so myself. Very polite-"

Inej buried her head in her arms. "I-I, mother what? He's just Kaz Brekker, I don't" Mr Ghafa interrupted her. "Brekker, eh? That name used to be real important, or so my friends told me."

Inej looked up, and was about to say something when Kaz came back.

"Ayo what are yall talking about?" He said.

"I- what? Kaz what the hell?" Inej asked.

"What? I learnt it from Jesper. He said it was cool." Kaz answered shrugging.

Sike. You really think Kaz would say that? Though I feel like that is something Jesper would say. Sorry I had to, I need a bit of fun in my life. Sorry if I destroyed the vibe.

Kaz sat down on his chair and continued eating, not saying anything. Inej grinned internally, knowing Kaz would think she was talking about family stuff with her parents. He always knew what was going on.

Not this time.

She really liked him, and ended up staring for another thirty seconds, before Mr Ghafa cleared his throat.

Inej looked away, not blushing, though her heart was pounding a thousand times a second. She'd learnt to keep her emotions in check, but not her heartbeat.

Inej bent her head and started eating again, the conversation picking up again. She didn't contribute much, she was thinking about Kaz, and the way he looked at each of Inej's parents in the eye while they were talking.

The only pair of eyes he wasn't looking into was hers.
