After scouting the areas they had said they would, Dina and Jesse met up where they had started. They waited a few minutes for Ellie but the longer they waited, the more impatient Dina grew.

"Where's Ellie?"

"I'm sure she's okay, Dina."

"And if she's not?"

"I never took you for one who gave up easily."

She scoffed and looked around.

"Let's go and find her."

"Okay. But we stick together, you hear?"

"Yes, sir."

They took the route that Ellie had gone down, keeping their eyes peeled for anything unexpected that they could come across.

The wind had started to slow and within minutes, the two were able to clearly see the path in front of them. They went up a hill and were surprised to see Shimmer waiting there. Dina dismounted her horse and went over.

"Hey, Shimmer. Where did she go, huh?"

Looking down, she saw faint footprints.

"Jesse. She went down this way. I'm going."

"Dina! Wait for me. Jeez."

Jesse got off his horse as quickly as he could before he lost sight of her. Tracking where she had gone, the two of them were at the mansion before they knew it.

"Ellie?!" Dina shouted.

"Shh. Dina, we don't know who or what is out here. Let's just go and see if she's in there."

Dina nodded and the two headed into the mansion. They were on the second floor and reached the steps to get to the first.

"Let's split up. Cover more ground. I'll go this way and you go that way," Jesse said.

Dina simply nodded and headed toward the kitchen. She spotted the hallway that led to a door that was opened. Clicking her gun, she slowly and cautiously made her way down the steps. When she got closer, she saw the faint traces of blood. Opening the door completely, she gasped at the sight she saw.

"Ellie. Oh my god."

Letting her gun fall, she got on her knees and tried waking Ellie as gently as she could.

"Ellie?"

Slowly but surely, Ellie opened her eyes and looked back at Dina.

"Ellie, I'm so sorry. Jesse! They're down here!"

Dina stood and went over to bring Jesse down.

She thought it was all a bad dream but the second she had become fully conscious, her eyes landed on Beth's body. She wasn't moving.
