"Movie night. Movie night. Damn. Who would have ever thought that we'd ever get the chance to see a movie again?" Beth said, bringing over a bowl of popcorn to their living room.
"That's all thanks to Tommy and Maria. Seeing all this...well it's really something," Joel said, taking a handful and stuffing his face.
"I've never seen a movie before. I mean, back at the Boston QZ, they'd show us video clips. But never a full length movie," Ellie said.
Beth and Joel looked at her and immediately felt bad for saying anything.
"Well, that's gonna change tonight, kiddo."
"What are we gonna watch?"
"It's a classic. I don't want to give too much away so why don't we just start it, huh?" Beth said.
"Back to the Future? How does someone go back to the future?" Ellie asked once the title sequence had started.
"You'll understand by the end of it, just watch," Beth said.
The three of them got comfortable on the couch and let the rest of the movie play on.
'Roads? Where we're going we don't need, roads,' Doc Brown said just as the last scene came into view.
This was one of Beth's favorite movies so of course she was fully invested from the beginning. When the screen went black, Ellie sat back. Both she and Beth had been on the edge of the couch. Ellie looked over at Beth.
"Why the hell didn't we see this movie sooner?"
"We had to settle in first."
"We've been here for almost a year. I think we've settled plenty," Ellie said.
The sound of Joel snoring got the both of them to quiet down.
"Let's head to the kitchen. Let him sleep," Beth said.
Ellie nodded. Taking the blanket off the side of the couch, Beth made sure to cover him up before heading to the kitchen.
"So. What did you like about it?" Beth asked, taking a seat at the table.
"Um...everything." Beth smiled.
"I'm glad you liked it."
"What other good movies have you been hiding from me?"
"With time, I'll show them all to you."
"Would you mind if I took that one back to my place. I'd love to watch it again."
"Sure. But you do know that this film is a part of a trilogy?"
"It is not. Are you serious? Well then pop in the other two."
