Taking out one after the other, the three of them pushed through in order to reach the exit of the building.

"We gotta get the hell out of here. No doubt more will be coming our way," Joel said the second he had slit the of their enemies' throats.

"Through those apartment buildings. We lay low until we come up with a plan going forward," Dina said.

Joel shook his head.

"We cut through them apartment buildings but we ain't laying low. We can't give those sons of bitches a chance to get away."

"I don't want them getting away either but we do need a plan on how to take them out. There's no telling how many there are. What if we underestimated their forces? Ellie, what do you say?"

The both of them looked to Ellie who had been making a plan since they had escaped.

"We're not slowing down, Dina. For anything. We cut through these buildings, maybe find some ammo in the process then we take out any one of them that gets in our way until we find those assholes that killed Beth. We better get moving before we lose the light."

Ellie was about to lead the way when Dina stopped her.

"Joel, we're right behind you."

He nodded.

"Don't take too long. We don't know how soon they'll catch up to us."

"You got it." Joel went into the nearest apartment building and started to look around for anything useful.

"Talk to me, Ellie."

"About what?"

"This is a reckless plan and you know it."

"Dina, you knew what you were getting into the second you signed up for this."

"You're smarter than this. You can't go in with guns-a-blazing."

"I just want to get to those that killed her. Joel and I both do. Maybe..." she didn't finish the sentence.

"Go ahead. Finish it."

"Maybe you should have stayed back home."

"Did you seriously just say that to me?"

"You're clearly not up for it. Why else would you be doubting the plan?"

"So me wanting to do things smart suddenly means that I'm doubting the plan?"

"Beth died, right in front of me, Dina. Beth...she was more of a mother to me than my own was. Both her and Joel...though they aren't my biological parents, that's what they are. I am not gonna stop until those who took her away from us pay and pay severely."

"I loved her too, you know."

"Not the way Joel and I did. I'm glad that she was able leave an imprint on you but the truth is that you'll never understand how Joel and I feel. I'm sorry but that's the truth. Now let's go, okay?"

She walked past Dina leaving her unable to say anything else. The two got to Joel in silence. He knew that they more than likely argued. He also knew that it was more than likely over Beth.

"Everything okay?" he still had to ask.

"Yeah. Everything is good. Any movement?" Ellie said.

"Not that I could tell. But it's too quiet for my liking. The two of you keep your guards up. We can't afford to have them down. Especially since word that we're here has probably gone around by now."

"You're right. But before we go, I need to check something."

Ellie knelt down and opened her backpack, taking out the letter and photo from the asshole back at the school. She read through the letter.

"From what I've gathered, that Jordan guy and her were together. She mentions a TV station. Do you think she's still there?"

Joel quickly took out the map and looked it over.

"It's here. It's a pretty long way from here. Are the two of you up for it?"

"Yes," Ellie replied quickly.

"Dina?"

Joel looked over at her.

"We've got a destination. Let's hurry up and get to it."

Joel still had the map open, looking at it then out a window.

"If all these tall buildings are surrounding it, then that way would be out best bet."

"Alright. Then that's the direction we go."

Ellie headed out the house first.

"Are you sure you're okay to head over there, Dina?" Joel asked.

"I knew what I was getting into when I agreed to come. We gotta do what we have to do, right? Besides, we've come this far. We can't just turn back around. We have to see this through."

Joel looked at her and it was obvious that she wasn't entirely on board with what needed to be done. But Beth was all that he was thinking about. He knew that he could have told both her and Ellie to turn back around. They could go back home and wait for him and Tommy to return. But the truth was, he didn't want to send Ellie back. He didn't want to have to worry about whether or not she made it back home safely. He couldn't bear to lose anyone else. He knew he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he lost her too. And he knew that she would never let Dina go back by herself. That's not the kind of person that she was. Instead of telling Dina to go back home, he just nodded and followed where Ellie had gone.

Looking as the two of them took off, Dina knew that there was no convincing either of them to abandon this mission they has started. What they had just been through was close call but the three of them managed to make it out of there alive. Maybe they'd get lucky again. All she knew was that being here with Ellie was better than staying back at Jackson. She could not have stayed behind and be wondering whether or not she was alive or dead. She hated not knowing. At least this way, they were together. She would never want to experience life without Ellie. That was one of her biggest fears. She would follow her to the ends of the earth and she hoped that Ellie knew that.

The second she stepped out of the house, she got a whiff of something and covered her mouth. She looked around on the ground to see if there was something dead nearby.

"Dina, come on!" Ellie shouted.

"Do you guys smell that?"

Joel turned around and started to sniff around.

Ellie came toward her.

"I don't smell anything."

"Weird."

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine I just...there was this really weird smell."

"Keep your eyes open. There could be something nearby."

Ellie turned back and kept going. Dina had felt nauseous for that brief moment. Her mind started to wander to one thought but she quickly shook that thought from her head. She couldn't be. But what if she was?

"Shit," she whispered quietly.
