With the directions Abby gave them, they were able to get to the mansion within half an hour. The fence got closer and a few people could be seen. They started firing at the infected that had managed to follow them all the way there.

"Come on, hurry up!" Abby's friends called.

Beth and Tommy got their horses to pick up the pace. The growls from the infected got louder by the second. Once they were through the fence, it was closed before any could get through. Her friends started firing at the ones that tried getting through.

"Save your bullets!" one of them yelled.

Two molotovs were thrown and within minutes, the shrieks had ceased entirely. Relief washed over Beth almost instantly. They had managed to survive all those infected. Wait until she told Ellie about this.

"Let's get inside!" a man said.

Tommy and Beth dismounted their horses and followed the group inside. They were led to a garage that was closed behind them once everyone was through. Both Beth and Tommy were able to get a good look at who had saved them from the infected, Beth froze and felt a sudden pit in her stomach.

"How you guys doing?" a woman asked.

"We're good, thanks," Tommy said.

Beth noticed Abby and the man that had thrown the molotovs leave the garage.

"You wanna get those saddles off?" the same woman asked Beth and Tommy.

"No. That's alright. Um...it'll keep the horses warm," Beth said.

"We'll just ride out the storm here and get out of your hair. Y'all got any brushes or a towel or anything?" Tommy added.

"We'll go and get you some," another woman said.

A couple of them left and there was a man that was left alone with them.

"Hey, um. Do you think you can give me and my brother a few minutes?" Beth asked.

She then looked to Tommy.

"I have to take my medicine and well...it's not really...you're a couple of strangers. I don't think you'd want to see that," she continued.

"How sick are you?"

"It's nothing major. I just need to make sure my blood pressure doesn't drop suddenly."

"Say no more. If there's anything you need. We'll be right through that door," the man said.

"Thanks. I really appreciate it."

The door was closed and it was just Tommy and Beth.

"What's wrong? You used our safe words," Tommy said.
