Somehow we ended up in California. I don't know how many hours of driving it took to get here, but damn it's amazing. And hot.
So fucking hot.
Too hot.
But I'll admit, seeing Teagan in a swimming suit is worth the heat. It really is.
"Michael! Come get in!" She shouted from the ocean.
I was sitting on the beach at the moment and enjoying my view of the ocean.
"Nooo," I dragged out.
She walked out of the water and ran towards me, her hair flying everywhere. She plopped down on the towel that was next to mine and nudged me with her elbow.
"C'mon," She pressed.
I smiled a bit at her enthusiasm.
"I don't want to," I whined.
She stuck out her bottom lip into a pout and I resisted the urge to kiss her.
"Why not?" She asked.
I had a reason, but I don't know how she will react when I tell her. So uh, how do you tell your girlfriend that you don't want to take off your shirt in public because people with think your too chubby and too white?
Well, you won't know until you do it.
"I don't want to take my shirt off," I whispered, so that the people around us wouldn't hear.
She frowned, "I think I know why, but please clarify."
I sighed and looked straight ahead, "People will think i'm chubby and too pale."
She frowned even more - as if possible. She moved from her spot on the towel next to mine and sat down right in front of me. She looked me dead-on into the eyes. She rested both of her hands on my knees and sighed, "Mikey, you're fine. People can judge you but that doesn't matter as long as you don't believe that that's true. You're perfect to me, and if they think you're a little too white or have a little meat on you then screw them."
I smiled at her attempt to lecture me and leaned forward to peck her lips.
"Fine," I smiled.
I lifted my shirt over my head (he's already wearing swimming shorts btw) and looked at her, "I'll race ya."
She smiled at me and started running after me. She beat me to it.
I slowed down when I got into the water and I picked her up bridal style and ran further into the water. She was flailing around a bit.
I told her to take a breath and then dropped her into the water. When she popped back up, she sent a playful glare in my direction, "you're gonna pay for that!" She yelled.
"Like you could do that to me," I challenged.
"Wanna bet?" she smirked and swam towards me.
----
We are sitting inside of a clinic right now because Teagan wasn't feeling so well. She had thrown up and had a terrible headache, so we were trying to figure out what could possibly cause her to wake up like this.
"Miss Michaels?" On of the practitioners called.
Teagan stood up, and I let her go in by hers self.
I'll admit I was a little antsy about the whole situation. It was a little concerning that she had been feeling fine and then this just popped up. It was a little weird. Suspicious, that was the word.
----
It seemed like she was in there for an eternity before she came trudging back out, shoulders slumped, head down, and her eyes were brimming with tears. I stood up from the uncomfortable chair that I had been sitting in as she made her way to me. I held out my hand for her to grab, and lead her out to the car. Once we were settled into the car, I turned to face her. She started crying at that moment, she let out the tears that had been brimming her eyes only moments ago.
"What happened in there?" I asked quietly, taking one of her hands in both up mine and raising it to my lips.
She took a shuddering breath and sighed deeply before answering me, "Sh-she told m-me that-t I m-might be..."
She couldn't even finish her damn sentence.
"Be what?" I asked softly.
She looked up and met my gaze, "Pregnant."
I could see my life flash before my eyes, I swear. And I could see her heart break into a million pieces right in front of me.
"You're... Pregnant?" I asked, I was in total shock.
"I might be," She corrected me.
I sighed and squeezed her hand.
She tilted her head at me as if she was expecting something from me. But, I didn't know what to do. I wasn't mad or sad but I wasn't too enthusiastic about it either.
"You're not mad? You don't want to leave?" She asked.
"No, and I can't just leave you in California all alone."
She shrugged.
"Well i'm nervous," She sighed.
"Me too, but I don't know how to react to this, it feels weird," I admitted.
"Same," I swear she almost laughed.
I smiled a little.
"Lets just go home and take a nap?" I suggested.
"Sure," She took my offer and we went home.
----
Not much happened after that. We stayed in California for the rest if the week and then we started heading home. Actual home, like, where we actually live. And go to school. That home.
I was nervous because I didn't know how to tell everybody that we just dropped everything and went on some random road trip to heck-knows-where.
Well I know how to tell them, but the people will start asking more questions, and I don't know if I can answer all of those questions. So maybe i'll just not tell anybody, and i'll be okay then.
Wow, that's terrible logic. Nice one Michael.
