Confusion. It fills his mind and body, making everything around him disappear.
What is it, he thinks. He can't understand it. Why his eyes can't leave your distant figure, as if magnetized. Why his heart is not that calm anymore, something making it burn in his tight chest.
Silence. Everything around him is in silence. And he does hear the music, the loud bass of it. He does hear them talking, screaming, laughing around him. And still, everything around him is in silence. Because you're there, in that crowd, stealing all his attention.
He knows you're different. Not the way he remembers you. A different hairstyle, different clothes, different smile. He knows everything has changed, but why the heck he's so eager to accept it? No questions, no wondering, you're the way you are. Took a complete 180, and he doesn't even want to know why.
He—
He just wants to get along with you.
He just wants to catch up where you two left off. How many years ago it was?..
Confusion. It fills Chan's mind and body, making them go wild. His mind drifts to the last time he saw you. Different emotions, different smiles, different words leaving his mouth. Different vibes, friendlier, more innocent.
This time his mind is blank. The only word that exists there, hanging in the middle of it all like a shining neon pink sign:
"Wow. Just, wow—"
And then all over again, "wow" swirling in his mind, a broken record.
His mind goes wow while his body takes him closer to you. People rush past him, shoulders bumping into each other, apologizes too rare to be heard. Smiles shine into his face, screams and laughs stunning him, his own heart betraying him shamelessly, beating too fast in his poor chest. But still, confusion is the only thing there, inside his mind, because—
Because...
Because now he wants to know. He wants to know how the new you feel like.
Centuries pass before his palm touches your back lightly. Eternity is taking too long before you turn to face him, curiosity dancing in your eyes, small devilish fire.
"How can I help—"
"Do you remember me?" The question comes out a little desperate, but Chan doesn't notice it, his mind is filled with the way the lights are reflecting on your face.
"I do, Chan," your smile is different, and he nods to it, accepting it too, as a matter of fact. "Long time no see." You tilt your head to the right a little, the smile still lingering on your lips, your eyes laughing with joy.
And, again.
Wow.
All Chan can think is wow.
"Do you want to dance?"
His question takes you aback, he notices it right away. It doesn't surprise him though. Again, he doesn't have any questions left. He's not the man you used to know. Everything has changed.
He admits it without a second thought, it's just the way he is now.
He's not going to avoid you. Not when his vibes are different. Not when he can't understand how he's feeling.
"Sure," you reach your hands to him, and he takes them in his without a second thought. He takes you by surprise again when he slides your hands around his neck, moving your both bodies closer to each other. And maybe he would've mocked you at that if he was the old him, and maybe he would've left a sticky flirty comment, making you laugh uncontrollable. But he's too confused to do that now.
Because.
Again.
Wow.
All he has in his head is wow.
Yes, everything is different. Your fingers playing with the hair on the back of his neck. Your nose being 10 sm from his. The glitter in your eyes.
True, everything is different. His hands on your lower back. His lips pursed together, too big and too red for you to stop glancing at them. His too serious eyes.
And you also can't help but think wow. He's so different from what you remember.
The mood he sets is strangely different. The words he's slowly, quietly saying make you feel mysterious. Of him, of all the things you don't know about him, the things that you'll probably find out about in a near future.
Confusion. Now it's your turn to feel it, to discover how strong it can be. It fills your mind and your body, making everything around you disappear. And the only thing that stays there, hanging in the middle of your mind like a shining neon pink sign, is wow.
Wow.
All you have in your head now is wow.
