Cody's POV
"Cody, c'mon buddy. It's time to wake up."
I opened my eyes and it was Uncle Matt. I whined and pulled my blankets over my head.
Today was our 1st day of school, and I was nervous. What if everyone is mean to me? Or I don't make any friends?
"C'mon. You don't wanna be late." he said, pulling me out of bed.
I groaned. He gave me my clothes, which was blue t-shirt, a long white shirt under it, black shorts, and blue converse. I put them on and went downstairs. Carter was making pancake and Daddy was making our lunches. Addy and Brady were at the table and they looked sleepy.
I sat down and tried not to fall asleep. Carter gave us our food and we ate. I went upstairs and brushed my teeth. Daddy did my hair.
I went downstairs and Daddy handed me my backpack. Addy and Brady already had theirs on.
Daddy carried us to the car and buckled us in our seats. We started driving. After a few minutes, I saw a building with a playground and a bunch of kids with their mommies and daddies. I gulped. There's a lot of people.
We parked and Daddy took us out of the car. We held his hand and walked into the building. There was a lady standing in the room, talking to all the mommies and daddies.
"Hello Brady and Addy. Welcome back. You must be Cody!" She said, looking at me.
I hid behind Daddy's leg.
"He's a little shy." Daddy said.
"That's okay. He'll be fine. He's lucky he has his brother and sister with him. Chose any cubby and have a seat on the carpet." She said.
We put our stuff in a cubby and sat down.
"Alright guys. I have to get to work. I love you guys and I will be back to pick you up. Cody, will you be okay?" Daddy asked, kissing all our cheeks.
I nodded. I'm trying to be a big boy. I don't need my Daddy.
"Okay. I love you guys." he said.
"Love you." we said.
He left and I started playing with my thumbs.
"Good morning class. My name is Ms. Dani. Welcome to your last year of pre-school. This year is all about getting you ready for kindergarden. You will learn colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and all sorts of fun stuff. Let's start off with a story." she said.
She read us two books and let us play. Brady and Addy went off with their friends. I saw a table with paper and crayons, so I walked over and sat down.
I started drawing a plane with clouds around it.
"Cody, that is amazing! You're an amazing artist!" Ms. Dani said.
"What's an artist?" I asked.
"A person who makes art. Drawings are art." she said.
I smiled and continued drawing. When I finished, I put it in my backpack to take it home.
"Let's go class! Time for outside play!' Ms. Dani said.
I followed the class outside and there was swings, slides, a sandbox, hopscotch, and monkey bars.
Addy was on the monkey bars with a girl and Brady was playing tag with a boy. I decided to play in the sandbox. I sat down and started filling a bucket with sand. I made a sand castle and smiled.
A boy with brown hair and brown eyes ran up to me and jumped on my sand castle.
"Hey!" I yelled.
"Haha! You have no friends!" he teased and ran off.
What a meanie.
"That's Ryan. He isn't very nice."
I looked up and it was a girl. She was really pretty. She had long brown hair, brown eyes, and a yellow dress with flowers on it.
"Can I play with you?" she asked.
I smiled and nodded. She sat down and I handed her a bucket and shovel.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Jessica, but you can call me Jessie. What about you?" she asked.
"Cayden, but you can call me Cody." I said.
"Cool name." she said with a smile.
I smiled and we played and talked. I learned she has an older brother and an older sister, she likes pink, and she likes the beach.
"Time for craft time! Everyone inside!" Ms. Dani yelled.
Jessie and I stood up and walked inside with everyone. We sat down at a big table and Ms. Dani taught us how to make paper snowflakes. Jessie and I laughed a lot because we kept messing up.After crafts, it was time for lunch. I sat down with Jessie again and we ate. We had naptime and I slept next to Jessie.
When we woke up, we had more outside play. Jessie and I played tag and went on the swings. After a while, it was time to go home. I got my backpack and went with Jessie. We waited and I saw Daddy.
"There's my daddy. I have to go." I said.
"Aw. Well, I'll see you tomorrow." She said, and kissed my cheek.
I smiled and ran to Daddy.
"Daddy! Daddy!" I yelled.
He smiled and picked me up.
"Hey Cody. I see you made a friend." he said.
"Yeah. Her name is Jessie and she's really funny and nice and pretty." I said.
"Well I'm glad you had a good first day. Let's go find Addy and Brady." he said.
We found Addy and Brady and Daddy took us to the car. He buckled us in and drove home. He took us out and I ran inside. Carter was on the couch and Uncle Matt was still at work.
"Carter! Carter! Guess what!" I said.
"What?" he asked.
"I made a friend! Her name is Jessie and she's really pretty and funny and nice. I also made this." I said, giving him my airplane picture.
"That's awesomely buddy!" He said.
I smiled and he handed it back to me. I went upstairs and sat on my bed. I can't wait to play with Jessie tomorrow.
