Chapter 47: The Kiss

1 Month Later
Cody's POV
Brady is out of the hospital and doing great. His casts are all off and he's back on his feet.
Graduation was a week ago, and Victor and Addy performed. They were really good.
Dad introduced us to his girlfriend, Alexa. She's really pretty, funny, and nice. Dad seems happier too.
But there's only one girl on my mind...and that's Jessie...
My tiny crush turned into...love...
I'll admit it...I'm in love with Jesse. I may only be 11, but I know this isn't just some crush anymore. I've known her for 7 years and I know she's the one...
She's beautiful, funny, smart, caring, athletic, lovable, always happy...She's perfect...
I woke up on a Friday and smiled, knowing it's summer. I got out of bed and used the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and went downstairs.
Alexa slept over last night, so she was in the kitchen with Dad, making pancakes.
They started hugging...then kissing...
"Ehhem...Kids in the house..." I said teasingly.
Dad kissed her again and everyone laughed.
"Get a room." Carter said, laughing as he walked down the stairs.
Everyone laughed again.
Everyone came down and we ate. Everyone left, doing their own stuff.
I went up in my room and watched TV for a little. At around 12, I got a text from Jessie.
JessietheBestie <3: Hey Cods! My parents went out for the day and Mikey and Mia went out with friends. Wanna sleepover?
Codster <3: Sure :D be over in an hour
I asked Dad if I could sleepover and he said yes. I went back upstairs and packed a bag with clothes. I took a shower and put on a blue tank top  black basketball shorts, black Nike socks, and blue Nikes. I did my hair and brushed my teeth again.
I grabbed my phone and it's charger and stuffed it in my bag. I grabbed a couple movies and also put it in my bag.
I went downstairs and said bye to Brady, Addy, Dad, and Alexa.
I walked across the street and rang the doorbell. I heard footsteps and then the door opened, revealing the beautiful girl that is my best friend. She had on a white tank top, black and white Nike shorts, and fuzzy blue socks.
"Hey Cods." She said with a smile.
"Hey Jess." I said with the same smile.
We hugged and we went up to her room.
"Let's watch High School Musical!" She said excitedly, holding the High School Musical 3 DVD case.
"Ugh...fine..." I said.
She giggled and ran downstairs, coming back up with a bowl of popcorn and 2 sodas. She put the movie on and we laid on the bed.
I didn't pay attention to the movie. I kept thinking about Jessie. She's so beautiful and sweet. She'd never like me...But what if she does? Would it ruin our friendship if I told her?
I looked at her lips. Her soft...pink...beautiful lips.
At the end of the movie, Troy and Gabriella kissed.
"I want a boyfriend like that when I grow up." Jessie said, eyes glued to the TV.
I sighed...Little does she know...I want to be that guy...
The movie ended a few scenes later.
"Can you sing to me? I love your voice." She said.
I smiled and nodded. She laid down on her back and I laid down next to her on my side.
I started singing her favorite song, Photograph by Ed Sheeran.

Hearing you whisper through the phone,

She smiled and looked into my eyes. Our smiles faded as we got closer and closer...then I felt my lips against hers. Her lips were so soft and smooth.
We pulled away and looked at each other.
"W-wow..." I said.
She blushed and smiled.
"I have to tell you something..." she said, sitting up.
I sat up, signaling I was listening.
"I've...I've had a crush on you ever since preschool. From the second I saw your cute little smile, I knew you were special. I've always thought you were cute, smart, funny, sweet, caring, and just a great person." She said, looking at the floor.
I couldn't have been happier...She...She likes me back...
"I have a crush on you too...I always have...Ever since I saw you in your yellow dress and your pigtails and your adorable smile, I knew you were special." I said.
She smiled back and kissed me again. Fireworks went off and I felt the butterflies in my stomach.
We pulled away and smiled.
"Let's just be friends for now...and maybe...when we're older we'll see what happens." She said.
I nodded and smiled.
We spent the rest of the day like we normally would at sleepovers: Movies, swimming, Mario Kart battles, and junk food.
I'm in love with my best friend and life couldn't be better...
