Chapter One: A Dream Within A Dream

"What if this was all just a dream?". Olivia's voice echoed like a sweet vibration in his head. Melting into him like honey, but settling uneasily into the pit of his stomach. Turning into knots as the reality of her words didn't sit well with him. A moment of desperation fell over him, knowing he was back at the Baker house three days before heading to Vegas. A cold sweat started to form while his hands felt clammy trembling under the stress he'd felt.

Spencer still could not wrap his head around the fact that everything he lived in the past few months had been all but a dream. His heart picked up its pace, thinking back to everything that had happened, wanting nothing more than to wake from this nightmare he was now living in. A reality he once lived and couldn't bear to see it through again. Knowing everything that happened, he didn't want to imagine reliving through the highs and lows. From gaining his team's trust to the girl that sat across from him at the dinner table. Her eyes told a different story than his. A story he already lived and knew all too well.

He wasn't able to fathom the fact that Olivia hadn't been sober at that moment. Something he thought she had under control, he would learn soon enough, she just hid it very well. His heart weighed heavy wondering what she'd been thinking about sitting across from him. His mind spiraled deeper into his thoughts now thinking of every emotion he was about to go through, ending with him losing Olivia once again. The first time broke him, taking him months to recover, he couldn't imagine a second time around.

Spencer felt desperate and frustrated wanting to escape this dream he was in. Closing his eyes he took a deep breath trying to wake himself up. But every time he would open his eyes, he would still be at the Baker house sitting across from Olivia. The reality sunk into him deeper, as a moment of desperation fell over him. All he could think about was how much he and Olivia had gotten to a better place. After everything, they've been through since Vegas, and the car crash, the both of them were finally at a point where they could be a couple. They were working on themselves, sober, and the healthiest they've both ever been. Spencer fought back the tears knowing that the girl sitting across from him was nothing more than a friend once again. A girl he would soon dream about being with, were now only living in his memories that hadn't happened yet.

A sigh escaped him looking back down to his untouched dinner plate when he heard Jordan call out his name, taking him out and back to reality. "What do you say, Spence? You didn't answer before. What are your thoughts about us heading to Vegas for the weekend? We already know Olivia won't be going. Like who wants to really go see a bunch of rocks? Grand Canyon Liv, really?" Jordan asked. Olivia narrowed her gaze at him. "What? It's one of the seven wonders of the world. And it's not just any rock, they say it's beautiful,". Jordan snorted, choking on his cola.

"Yeah, okay LIv. You really want us to drive a total of six hours to the middle of nowhere to look at a bunch of rocks? Count me out, but Vegas? There is so much to do, besides me and Simone got a few plans, isn't that right baby?" Jordan asked. Simone wobbled into the dining room, with a big smile carrying dessert. Giving a nod, she kissed Jordan on the cheek. "Yes, we do, and I'm so excited. Don't get me wrong the Grand Canyon sounds fun and all but they don't have a..."Simone trailed stopping herself mid-sentence. "... five-star buffets," Jordan added to his girlfriend's unfinished sentence. "Right....buffets?" she asked. Wrapping her arm around Jordan, he nodded.

"Heard it's the best buffets in all of the country,". Simone let out a laugh gazing into her boyfriend's eyes. "How did I get so lucky to find a boy that gets excited over buffets,". Jordan shrugged. "How did I get so lucky to find a girl to join me,". Rubbing their noses together the both of them shared a tender kiss when Olivia threw her napkin at the both of them. "Gross,". Spencer already knew why Jordan and Simone were so eager to vacation in Vegas. Although they didn't say, he could now see the signs in which would've given away their secret about getting married in Vegas. "I don't know maybe we should go to the Grand Canyon. I'm sure they have...buffet's out there too?" Spencer asked. Jordan shook his head. "Out of all people I thought you'd want to be on our side. Besides, you were the one to tell us a couple of weeks back that Coop was playing a show on Saturday night. Why not make a trip out of it, and stay the weekend?".
