"So you really not going to give me any clues?" Spencer asked trying to focus all his attention on what he'd been smelling on the road and what his ears could pick up. Nothing gave it away, and with every minute passing it had become harder to concentrate. "Not one. Is it really a surprise if I give it away? Even one clue would give you enough details to know where we are going. Besides I'm terrible at giving clues," Olivia spoke focusing on the road.
A slow smile spread on his lips knowing it was true. Olivia was terrible at giving clues. She would either go too much into detail or vague enough that it would be hard to guess it correctly.
"Okay how about this. You tell me, but when we get there I act surprised. It's a win-win,". Olivia turned to Spencer letting out a sigh. "If only you could see the face I'm giving you right about now,". Spencer softly laughed. "By the tone of your voice and that sigh you just gave I think I can picture it perfectly,". "Am I that predictable?" Olivia asked.
Feeling a hand on her thigh she looked down to Spencer gently squeezing her. Her mouth parted, locking her gaze on his hand. Resting on her mid-thigh, his thumb gently caressed her. Shifting slightly in her seat, she cleared her throat trying to focus on the road.
"Liv, it's not that hard to guess what face you're giving me. It's the usual face you give me when I tell you one more match when I'm playing video games with J, Chris, or Dillon. It's also the face you give me when Coach has us out on the field practicing for the second time that same day. It usually ends with a crinkle of your nose and the smallest of smiles. It's hard to catch but if you look closely and pay attention you could see it. It's so quick and before someone notices it, it's gone," Spencer spoke with a permanent smile on his lips. Just talking about Olivia, and the little things she does never ceased to amaze him.
Olivia smacked her lips tightly to hide her smile, listening to Spencer speak about the little details he caught, only made the pigmentation on her cheeks more prominent. "Was I right?" Spencer asked. The car had fallen silent for a moment. Olivia cleared her throat, "No...".
Her voice trailed to a whisper meaning Spencer was right. He softly laughed under his breath shaking his head. The both of them stayed quiet for a brief moment before Spencer spoke again.
"Hey, Liv?". A slow smile spread on her lips. "Yeah Spence?". "You think when we are eighty we will still surprise each other with these random little date nights? When the grandkids get picked up and it's only you, me, and the dogs?". Olivia laughed shaking her head. Spencer scrunched his eyebrows, taken aback.
"Why are you laughing? I'm serious. I gotta know so I can start prepping myself now,". "Well, first of all, that's a loaded question,". "How so?" Spencer asked. Olivia placed a kiss on his cheek before answering. "Who says I'm sticking around till we are eighty?". Spencer softly laughed.
"Fair point. I mean I shouldn't promise you till we're eighty because if I meet Rihanna I may have to rethink this,". Olivia burst into laughter parking the car. Turning off the engine, she killed the lights, leaving them in the dark. "Funny. But I don't blame you she is drop-dead gorgeous. Not if I meet her first though, then you really about to have to rethink this life plan of yours,". Spencer shook his head, hearing the passenger door open.
"And looks like that's all the questions we have for now. We don't want to be late for our date!" Olivia clapped her hands excitedly helping Spencer out of the car. "So you really not going to answer my question?" he asked. "Which one? The one about marrying Rihanna? Because I'm all for it! You can marry her and I'll marry Michael B Jordan. Damn that man's gorgeous,". Spencer slowed to a stop a bit jealous.
"I'm standing right here,". Olivia softly chuckled. "Oh, I know. You were supposed to hear that. It's not like you didn't just say you weren't sticking around till your eighty if you meet Rihanna?". Spencer sighed. "Okay, okay so we both have a pass. But let's just say, for example, me and Micheal B Jordan are in the same room together, and you wouldn't know me, who would you talk to?". Olivia grinned wrapping her arms around Spencer as they walked down the path to the surprise.
