CHAPTER 72

"Can you tell me why you want to go to Downtown?" Tanong ko sa kanya while driving.

"Why? Balak kong pumasyal and spend the night there."

"Are you saying, you'll be staying at an inn alone?" Kunot noo kong tanong. She's a woman, but she wants to be alone? I'll be hurting my pride if I leave her alone.

"I have my guard."

"You mean Ros?" Paglilinaw ko. "Yes, but nagkaroon lang ng problema, so I'll be spending my whole day alone."

"Do you mind if we first go somewhere?" I inquired, changing the subject to see if she agrees. If not, tutuloy kami sa sentro ng Downtown.

"Gladly!" She replied with a smile. So I returned her smile before changing our route. I feel at ease in this environment. She radiates a serene vibe around her that is very familiar to me.

It's just familiarity, but not the same person.

"Where is this place?" Yna asked pagkababa sa kotse. "This is a large piece of land, yet it is rather plain. Anong titingnan natin dito?"

She's dressed simply in a light blue ruffled above-the-knee long dress with puff half sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, a matching hairband, and flat shoes in the same color, but still stands out.

"Nothing really," sagot ko at tiningnan ang kabuoan ng lupa. "What do you think about me using this land for my thesis?" Tanong ko. I'm not sure why I'm asking. It's not like her opinion is valid.

"It's not like my opinion is valid." I blinked twice as I looked at her. I did not expect her to say what I believe she should not have said.

"Why?" I inquired. I'm curious as to why she stated it. "It's not like you."

"What? Wow... I had no idea you'd say that to me..." I scoffed and looked her in the eyes with a solemn face. "...as if we've known each other for years."

"No, I think you're mistaken," she responded, her face flushed. She let out a long sigh. "Listen up, Zeke. I may not know you well, but it's unusual for you to seek my advice when we merely met by chance." She explained by averting her attention from me. "It's not like you'll tell me what's going on in your thoughts that causes you to be misunderstood by others." I can't refute it, but from everyone I know, and from what she says, it's a whole different story.

"Yna, you act as if you know everything about me. Are you aware of what you're saying?" I asked, still staring at her. Her expression, though, is dreary.
