"Often, little situations trigger enormous reactions. Be there, present for it. Your partner will find it easier to see it in you, and you will find it easier to see it in them."

A week passed, and then another, and there was still no news about Kit. That was both reassuring and unsettling at the same time.
Reassuring for Earth because the more time had passed, the more sure he was that Kit just didn't see him as an important asset. Either that or Perth managed to advise Kit that pursuing Earth wasn't a good strategy.
On the other hand, it was unsettling for Mix, who knew that once Kit had his eyes on something, he wasn't going to stop until he got it. And if it meant he needed to fuck up some lives in the process...great, even better.
Earth and Mix were walking out of the club, bickering about which one of them was supposed to pay for their lunch this time...
"I paid last time, so it's your turn," Mix said, walking backwards, not breaking eye contact with Earth.
"But that was only because I forgot my wallet, and besides, I already paid you back the same day," said Earth, pouting.
"La, la, laaa, I'm not listening," Mix grinned.
...when a black Mustang parked in front of the club, almost hitting Max.
"Fuck, man, watch where you are going!"
Kit walked out of the car towards the bickering duo and put his hands around Earth's shoulders, "I'll buy you lunch and dinner if you want to."
Earth immediately pushed Kit away, "get away from me!"
Mix's face changed from grinning to stone-cold dangerously fast, "fuck off, Kit. No one is in the mood for you!"
Kit put his right hand on his heart, "you always welcome me with open arms, Mixy. It really warms my heart."
"If you came because of me, I suggest you leave. I'm not going anywhere," Earth said.
"Why? Did I give you way too much time to settle in here? I know I should have come last week, but I had—"
"Listen, Kit, I don't give two shits about why you didn't come sooner or what you were doing. I won't leave this gang, no matter what you're gonna say. Comprende?" Earth didn't have much patience with people who didn't understand that no meant no.
"Glad to see you didn't lose your fire since we last saw each other." As Kit was saying this, his eyes were scanning Earth's body the same way they did when Kit and Earth met for the first time. But this time it didn't end for Kit with a warning, but rather with the excruciating pain that pinned him to the ground.
Mix was standing above him, his right hand still clenched in a fist.
"Fuck, why did you hit me?"
"Earth told you that if you look at him that way once again, he will punch you, didn't he?"
