The nurse shook her head, "no, nothing like that, actually, he woke up, about an hour ago, and he was asking for you." She smiled with an understanding as she heard Mix let out the breath he didn't even know he was holding.

Mix didn't say anything, turning around, he ran through the white corridor, stopping in front of Earth's room. His hand was shaking as he put it onto a doorknob. One deep breath and Mix opened the door.

Earth was laying in the same position as he did for the past six days, his eyes still closed, and for a second, Mix thought that the nurse was just playing a cruel prank on him and that Earth was still in the deep sleep, blissfully unaware of anything and everyone; including Mix.

But then Earth's eyes opened and a weak but genuine smile appeared on his face as his eyes fell upon frozen Mix. "That was a perfect shot, baby," Earth said, his voice surprisingly strong and smooth.

Not the voice Mix would expect from someone who slept for six days straight. But then he realized that Earth was already talking to doctors and nurses, so that's probably why the initial raspiness was gone. Why was he even focusing on Earth's voice so much?

Because if you can hear it, it means that he is talking, it means that he is alive.

A sob left Mix's body before he could stop it or even realize that he was crying. He made three big steps towards Earth's bed, embracing his boyfriend in his arms, boring his head carefully in Earth's neck, trying to suppress his tears. "Don't ever ask me to shoot you again! Do you hear me?" Mix said in between his sobs.

"That's more than fine by me," Earth said, stroking Mix's back.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so so sor—"

"Mix, stop! Recently, you have been saying 'I'm sorry' more frequently than breathing. I should be the one, saying sorry instead."

Mix sniffed back his tears and sat on the chair next to the bed, holding Earth's hand. "Why should you say sorry?"

Earth sighed, "Mix, I was the one who came into the Midnight Race to catch Jack. I was the one who promised you that we will find out who really killed your mother. I was the one who let my feelings take over my job. If I just did my job, you wouldn't have to be the one who killed Jack. You wouldn't be crying right now... For that, I'm sorry."

"But if you only did your job, we wouldn't have each other," Mix said, squeezing Earth's hand tighter. "Yes, Jack died, but shooting you was way harder than shooting him. And even though he can't be put in jail now, at least the case of my mother will be finally solved. That, Earth, that means the most to me. And it's because of you and your agency. You were the one who started to dig deeper into it once I told you what happened. Without you, I would still be thinking that it wasn't Jack himself who killed my mother. Without you, I would probably still hate my brother. Without you, I would still be stuck at the same place of living for revenge, not knowing that there are more important things in life than that."
