"Love is a friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses."

Quiet sounds of whatever was going on on TV were playing in the background of the apartment. Earth was sitting in the middle of the sofa, an espresso standing on the big shiny glass table covered in a mess of papers and small notes. Laptop in the middle of all that mess.
The files about Mix's mother and Jack were screaming at him from the monitor, as he was playing with the pen, he might or might have not stolen from the headquarters reception because he liked the way it glided on the paper.
Mix has left, well, Earth doesn't actually remember when but it was early in the morning, and when he woke past 10 AM, Mix still wasn't back. So Earth decided to utilize his time alone and see if he can find something more about the murder of Mix's mother.

The victim (45) was shot, once in the head with a 10.9 mm caliber, followed by immediate death. There is no evidence on who the culprit might be. There is no DNA, no signs of struggle, and the analysis of the bullet didn't bring any new factors into the investigation. The victim was found right after the shooting, by her youngest son. However, the son didn't see anyone on the scene. The son is not considered a suspect nor a person of interest.

Due to the lack of evidence and potential suspects, the investigation regarding the murder of the victim (45) is as of today moved from active investigation to the department of cold cases.
They really threw this whole investigation into the trash after only one week. Earth scoffed, "that's low, man, that's so low." He ran his hand through his hair, "okay, so...Mix came home from school at 4:03 PM—is this important? Maybe..."
Earth was so focused on trying to find something that would in some way, point him to Jack, that he hadn't even heard the click of the door as they opened, shortly after lunchtime, revealing determined but nervous looking Mix.
Earth only snapped out of it when he felt Mix's body sitting next to him. "How is my baby doing?" He stroked Mix's hair, hand acting by itself, having Mix's body so close again. "Had fun with Win?"
"Actually, there's something I want to ask you."
Earth then realized that Mix wasn't looking at him. Mix was looking right in front of himself, but Earth doubted that Mix was actually paying any attention to what was playing on TV. It was like Mix didn't even register that there was a TV, in the first place.
Earth closed the laptop, put away the pen and turned his body fully towards Mix, "ask anything you want, Mix."
"You didn't like our first time...that's why you didn't mention it again, right?" Mix felt so vulnerable asking this, but he had to for his own good he had to. But after he let those words out, he regretted them right in the next moment.
