"The suspicious mind believes more than it doubts. It believes in a formidable and ineradicable evil lurking in every person."

"Okay, I think that's enough

"Okay, I think that's enough. You know Earth's part of the truth. Now it's time to tell you mine." Mix said and leaned with elbows on his knees up front, playing with his fingers.

"The reason why I'm fine with Earth being a secret agent is that his goal is the same as mine. You have no idea how much I wanna see Jack where he belongs. Jail, or hell. I don't care. You know my mother died, but not all of you know, how she died. Honestly, all you need to know is that she was shot by some pissed junkie client of my stepfather. And you know what's even worse? Jack didn't even try to pretend that he blames himself, that he is sorry or sad or anything really. He just went on doing his dirty business as if his wife wasn't just killed because of him."

Earth was carefully watching Mix; when he started talking about his mother, his body tensed, his palms formed into fists, and his right leg was subconsciously shaking up and down...up and down.

Earth skipped behind the couch and put his hands on Mix's shoulders to let him know that he is there for him. He could feel how tense Mix's body was. He started to play with the collar of Mix's shirt, and once in a while, he caressed his boyfriend's neck. He didn't care if anyone sees it. Mix needs him, and Earth will do anything to make him feel better.

Mix leaned into Earth's touch a little bit more and went back to what he was talking about. "One day, he asked me, well, more like announced to me that I'm gonna be his right hand in his new gang; Midnight Race. At that point, I was already deep into pretending that I actually care about his business. So this seemed like a great opportunity to get even closer to Jack's illegal activities and to finally start looking for any evidence that can finish him for good. And here we are now. I'm sitting with the greatest bunch of friends in the club, that feels like home." Mix finished his truth, a soft smile playing on his lips, despite the dark nature of the reality.

"And with a secret agent as your boyfriend," Win added with his bunny smile.

"And with a secret agent as my boyfriend," Mix agreed, taking one of the Earth's hands which were still playing with the collar of Mix's shirt, in his hand.

"Mix, we are sorry, that's—" Nanon started speaking.

"No need to be. You can't change it anyway," Mix said, his body finally relaxing under Earth's touch.

"Now, when you know all of that, the only thing we ask from you is to be more observant during the Midnight Race. Maybe you'll see someone who doesn't seem to be interested in the race or someone who is lurking behind everyone else or keeps looking behind their shoulder all the time. Literally, anything that you find even remotely suspicious, don't hesitate to tell me, or to Mix," Earth said.
