Hannah’s P.O.V.We were all in the cafeteria, having lunch, when I got an unexpected text from Ronnie—that’s what I have Aaron saved as in my phone.
Ronnie: Hey!! Are you busy after class?
Me: Nothing much. As usual, heading to the library. Why?
Ronnie: Can you come to my office later?
Me: Umh… will see.
Why is he calling me to his office? I wondered.
“Maybe he wants to take revenge for yesterday’s kick,” my subconscious mocked, amused.

Later that evening, I found myself standing in front of ROYALTY—a place that once felt like home. No one here knew me anymore, except Mrs. Johns, who had been working here for the past fifteen years. I used to visit often to meet Uncle and Aaron, but it had been over six years since I last stepped through these doors.
As I walked toward Aaron’s office, his assistant stopped me abruptly.
"You can't enter without an appointment. And judging by the look of you, I’m sure you don’t have one. So just leave," she said coldly.I took a deep breath and replied firmly, “Sorry to disturb you, but could you please inform him that Hannah is here? We’re friends.”
She scoffed. “Aaron is busy right now. He won’t let anyone in. I’ve known him for two years, and trust me, he doesn’t have friends like you. He prefers girls like me. So, better go back to wherever you came from.”
Her words cut like a blade, but I smiled faintly and replied, “I appreciate people with manners. It would be nice if you focused on your work instead of judging others.”
That must’ve hit a nerve—because without warning, she shoved me hard, and I fell to the floor with a cry. Pain shot through my ankle as I twisted it trying to break the fall.
“Better watch who you’re messing with, girl,” she sneered, laughing at my struggle to get up.
But her laughter died the second she saw Aaron walking toward us.
“Sir! I... I... didn’t…” she stammered, her arrogance dissolving.
“Hannah! Are you okay?” he rushed to me, kneeling beside me as his eyes scanned my twisted ankle.
Before I could even answer, he lifted me in his arms—bridal style—and called out, “Ms. Brooks, bring the first aid kit to my office. Now!” His voice was sharp, commanding.
He carried me into his office and gently placed me on the couch. He knelt and began removing my heels carefully.
“Aaron, I’m fine,” I murmured, trying to stop his hands from inspecting further.
“You sprained your ankle. Damn it, Hannah, why are you so clumsy? Can’t even walk properly,” he muttered, frustration lacing his voice. “Is getting into fights necessary everywhere you go?”
He was scolding me like a child. Before I could argue, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” he said.
Ms. Brooks entered sheepishly with the first aid kit and placed it on the table.
Aaron didn’t even look at her as he spoke coldly, “Ms. Brooks, this is your final warning. If you humiliate her again, I swear I’ll make sure you regret it. Now get out.”
“Sir, I’m sor—”
“I think I made myself clear,” he snapped.
She turned and hurried out, shutting the door behind her.
Aaron sighed and sat on the sofa beside me. He opened the kit, applied the ointment, and gently pressed the swollen spot.
“Ahh! A little more gently—it hurts!” I hissed in pain.
He ignored my protests and continued.
There was a long pause before he finally spoke, his voice softer now.
“Hannah, I… I… you…” he struggled. Then, in one breath, he blurted out, “Will you be my date to Mia’s engagement party?”
I blinked in surprise, my heart skipping a beat. My hands reached for the glass of water on the table, and I took a long sip to hide the smile threatening to appear.
He looked serious. “Recently, my parents have been pressuring me to go on blind dates. So… I kind of told them I’m already secretly dating someone.”
His eyes met mine. “And that someone is… you. So, will you please be my date?”
My heart was practically dancing in joy—but of course, I had to play it cool.
