In the VIP room of the hospital, Aaron sat quietly on a chair, holding Hannah's hand. The gun he had been gripping all day was now resting on the table beside him.
"Why did you do this? Why did you save me? I promised to protect you—with Camila Aunt—but instead, you protected me."
His voice trembled as he broke down, "I failed to keep my promise. I failed to protect you. I failed as a friend, as a lover, as a man. I wish it was me instead of seeing you like this."
Tears spilled from his eyes, wetting her lifeless hand.
There was a knock on the door. Slowly, he let go of her hand and reached for the gun.
“Come in,” he said coldly.
A doctor entered and checked on Hannah.
“How is she now? When will she regain consciousness? Why the hell are you not answering?!” Aaron shouted, pointing the gun at the doctor.
“Sir, please calm down,” the doctor said, trying to remain composed. “She was shot in the hand, and the shock caused her to lose consciousness. She’s still under strong painkillers and suffered heavy blood loss. She will regain consciousness anytime now. I hope you understand—and please don’t disturb the other patients.”
Without another word, the doctor left.
Another knock followed shortly—it was Liam.
“The police are here,” he said quietly before leaving.
Aaron got up, gently tucked the quilt around Hannah to keep her warm, kissed her forehead, and walked out.
The moment his eyes landed on the culprit—the one who shot Hannah—his eyes turned blood red. He stormed forward, grabbed the man by the collar, and slammed him into the wall. His fists clenched so tightly that his veins bulged.
He looked like a wild beast ready to tear his prey apart. Even monsters would have feared him in that moment.
He raised his fist, about to land a punch that could crush bones—but someone held his hand.
He turned, growling in rage.
It was Hannah.
The moment he saw her, the darkness in his eyes faded. He nodded to Liam and Zander to handle the rest.
Aaron gently supported Hannah as she stood. He scolded her for getting out of bed and softly asked about her pain. That night, he didn’t leave her side—taking care of her like she was his whole world.
Meanwhile, Emma had gone back to the hotel after ensuring Hannah was okay and instructing Aaron to take good care of her. But her heart was heavy after what Liam had said earlier. She decided she wouldn’t speak to him again.
At the police station, the culprit confessed everything.
Hazel had offered him money to harm Aaron and Hannah to win the couple competition. She even threatened to kill his family if he failed. Out of fear, when his men failed and lay unconscious, he shot at Aaron—only for Hannah to jump in between.
Each word stabbed Zander in the heart.
Still, he couldn’t believe it without proof. He ordered the police to investigate thoroughly. Until then, he told Liam not to let Hazel know anything.
Within an hour, the police tracked Hazel’s phone records and bank transactions. The confession was true.
Zander fell to his knees, broken.
It was too late. Hazel would be arrested the next morning.
Liam, feeling terrible for Zander, tried to console him—but Zander asked to be left alone. Liam quietly returned to the hotel.
Zander stumbled into a nearby bar and drank until he could barely stand. Too tired to go anywhere, he booked a room upstairs. Even then, sleep didn’t come. He kept drinking, alone with his shattered heart.
His phone lit up on the bed—it was a message from Hazel.
"Baby, where are you? I'm waiting for you at the hotel. Please come soon" with a heart emoji.
He stared at it, eyes glazed with tears.
"I trusted you... even when you were wrong, even when you were caught cheating, even when you lied about hurting others, even when I knew you loved things more than me. But today—"
His voice broke.
"You harmed my loved ones. You harmed my childhood best friend. You harmed my sweet, lovely sister.”
He wiped his tears, his voice rising in fury.
“I will not spare you this time. I will destroy you.”
He passed out on the bed, heartbroken.

Next Morning - Hospital
Everyone was waiting for Zander. Even the police.
Aaron sat beside Hannah like a ticking time bomb. He looked calm—but one wrong move could trigger him into something dangerous.
Hazel sobbed uncontrollably, pleading.
Emma stood in a corner, peeling an apple, her eyes burning with rage. She was trying hard not to slit Hazel’s throat right there.
Liam was talking to a lawyer who would represent Hannah in case Hazel’s family tried to claim she was innocent.
Hannah gently massaged Aaron’s hand, trying to calm the storm within him.
Just then, Zander walked in.
Messy hair, wrinkled clothes, red and puffy eyes—he looked nothing like his usual self. A walking wreck. This is what one-sided love can do to a person.
He walked past Hazel as if she didn’t exist, straight to Hannah.
“How’s your hand now? Did the doctor come? Did you take your medicine?” he asked softly.
Everyone was shocked by his calmness—but his appearance told the real story. He was shattered inside.
Hazel crawled to him, grabbing his leg.
“Baby, please! Help me! I don’t want to go to jail. Yes, I was wrong—but I did it for us, for our love! I didn’t want them to win. I wanted those rings that symbolized our love!”
Zander didn’t even look at her.
“Take her away,” he told the police coldly. “Just looking at her makes me sick.”
Hazel screamed and, in rage, grabbed a flower vase from the table and hurled it at Hannah.
Aaron caught it mid-air.
He calmly placed the vase back on the table. Then, smiling coldly, he pinned Hazel to the wall with one hand around her neck, lifting her off the ground.
She struggled to breathe.
Suddenly, he let her go and dropped her.
“Just because you were my buddy’s girlfriend, you’re alive,” he said. Then he smashed the same vase against the wall—just inches from her head.
“It’s ex-girlfriend, buddy,” Zander corrected, throwing the promise ring at her feet.
The police dragged her away.
It took all of Zander’s strength to say those words. But he knew—some people don’t deserve your love, no matter how much it hurts.
