“Having the worst day? I could still smile when I see you… because with you by my side, even the worst day becomes the best.”

Hannah’s P.O.V
“No, Ronnie! You know I can’t lie to Aunt Camila and Uncle. You could’ve asked your assistant—she’s pretty and seems like the perfect match for you,” I said, teasing him with innocent mischief in my tone.
“It’s better to date a zombie than to date her,” he muttered dryly.
I burst out laughing at his deadpan reply. He smiled, reached out, and held my hands gently, giving me that irresistible pleading look. I sighed and gave in, nodding with a small smile. “Yes.”
Just then, his assistant barged into the office. “Mr. Kingston, you’re late for the meeting. Everyone’s waiting for you.”
The moment she noticed we were holding hands, I instinctively pulled mine away.
“Tell them I’ll be there in a few minutes. And next time, learn to knock, damn it!” he barked, clearly annoyed.
Then he turned to me, softening instantly. “Pumpkin, wait for me. I’ll be back.”
He started walking out, but before leaving, he suddenly turned, flashed me a wink, and said to his assistant, “Ms. Brooks, you don’t need to attend the meeting. Just take care of my girlfriend.”
And then he was gone.
Girlfriend. The word echoed in my heart like music. I smiled to myself, replaying his words over and over as I looked around his office.
I wandered over to his chair, sat down like a queen, and playfully pretended to be him—giving orders, scolding imaginary employees, and rolling my eyes like a boss. But soon, boredom got the best of me, and I dozed off on his chair.
---
When I opened my eyes, I blinked in confusion at my surroundings. Then it hit me—I had fallen asleep on Aaron’s chair, and now I was lying on the couch, covered in his coat.
I sat up slowly, only to find myself staring—no, crushing—on Aaron, who was working quietly on his laptop nearby.
“You’re awake?” he asked, looking up. “How’s your leg? Can you walk now?”
“I’m fine,” I replied softly. “But hey, why did you ask me to wait?”
He looked up again, a small smirk forming. “Camila Aunt told me you didn’t bring a dress for the party. So... let’s go get you one.”
---
Soon, we were stepping into one of the most famous fashion boutiques in New York City.
“Hi Carla, you remember your assignment?” Aaron asked in his usual bossy tone.
“Yes, Mr. Kingston,” she nodded politely, then turned to me with a smile. “Miss, this way please.”
She guided me to the dressing room, and for the next hour, I tried on one stunning dress after another. I was tired and starving by the time a light grey gown caught my eye.
The moment I put it on, I felt it—it was the one. It fit perfectly.
“Please pack this one,” I told Carla, smiling. “And don’t tell Aaron. I want it to be a surprise at the party.”
Outside, Aaron was pacing.
“Didn’t like any of them? Want to try another place?” he asked, sounding worried.
“No, idiot,” I grinned. “I loved every dress here. But I’m not showing you now because I want to surprise you at the party.”
I stuck my tongue out at him, making faces.
“Childish,” he muttered, shaking his head. “Whatever… just don’t embarrass me in front of everyone.”
I rolled my eyes. At that moment, food was all I could think about.
Halfway back, my stomach began growling, louder and louder. I tried patting it, begging it to stay quiet, but it had a mind of its own—and, of course, caught the devil’s attention.
“Looks like someone’s very hungry,” he laughed. Jerk.
“Well, maybe because the idiot beside me doesn’t know how to treat a girl,” I snapped sarcastically, crossing my arms.
He cleared his throat awkwardly. “Alright, alright… let’s go. I’ll take you to one of my favorite places.”
---
A few minutes later, we arrived at a cozy little spot—not fancy or flashy, but peaceful and inviting. It wasn’t a place just for the rich; it was for everyone—each corner designed with a unique charm.
The staff welcomed us warmly and led us to our table. And for the first time all day… I felt completely at ease.
