Hannah’s P.O.V
"Pumpkin! Meet me after work, let’s have dinner together."
I read Aaron’s message and blushed. It’s been more than two years since we started our so-called "fake" dating—but everything about it feels real. The way he takes care of me, gives me time, encourages me, and stands by me in every situation… I do wish, with all my heart, that I could be his real girlfriend someday.
"Sure," I replied with a smile, and returned to my work.
I’m currently doing my internship at Royality, and Aaron—he’s the CEO now. When Ryan, Taylor, and I applied to different companies after college, fate brought us here. They’re wonderful, and the way they bicker and care for each other makes me feel there’s something more than just friendship brewing between them.
I do miss Em sometimes. That idiot is too busy dating Liam and working in Uncle’s company, Dream Interiors.
Later that evening, I handed Aaron a bouquet of red roses and he smiled, truly smiled. That moment made my heart swell. I had ordered them online amidst my busy day, just to make his a little brighter—because I know how much he loves red roses. It's the least I could do.
After dinner, I hugged him, thanked him, and we stood talking, holding hands, laughing softly as we waited for his car. Then his phone rang—and I saw the shift in his expression.
“Hannah, something’s wrong with Mom. She’s been admitted to the hospital.”
I could hear the tremble in his voice. I know how deeply he loves his mom. Without thinking, I said, “Let’s go.”
But he shook his head. “I can’t take you. It’s already late and your dad will be furious if he finds out you were with me this late. I’ve already called a car for you—it should be here soon. Please call me as soon as you reach home.”
He hugged me tightly, apologizing for leaving me alone. I smiled softly, kissed his cheek, and reassured him, “Don’t worry. She’ll be okay.”
He left, and I watched his car disappear down the street. That’s when the wait began.
Thirty minutes passed. Still no car. Frustrated, I booked another cab and stood there, waiting. That’s when I noticed them—a group of strange men, their eyes lingering on me far too long.
Something felt off. Cold dread filled my chest.
When the cab didn’t show up, I made a decision. I’d walk. The shortcut to my home would get me there in thirty minutes, and it was better than waiting alone in the dark.
But a few minutes into my walk, I turned back—and there they were. The same group of men, now following me. One of them had a knife in hand.
Panic rushed in.
With trembling fingers, I sent my live location to Dad and Aaron. If something happened, at least they’d know where to find me. I called Aaron—no answer. I tried again. And again. Five, six times. Nothing.
So I left him a voice message, praying he’d listen soon enough to find me.
I ran. They ran faster. I managed to dodge them and hide behind a large tree. My heart thundered in my chest as I tried to call Dad—only to see the screen fade. My phone was dying. I barely managed to whisper “Dad…” before the call dropped and the battery gave out.
I tried to hide again, but they saw me. I bolted—but it was too late.
They cornered me against a wall.
"Please… leave me alone," I begged, my voice trembling. "You don’t know whose girlfriend I am. Even a scratch on me—he’ll kill you."
They laughed, mockingly.
"Do you even know who sent us to ruin that pretty little face?" one sneered.
"If she knew, she wouldn’t be acting so bold," another jeered.
I stepped back slowly, pleading with every ounce of my soul, “Please… I’m not the girl you’re looking for… please…”
My back hit the wall. I was trapped. My tears fell freely now.
"Help! Someone, please! Help me!" I screamed with all the strength I had left—but only their mocking laughter echoed in return.
"No one will help you here, sweetheart," one said, stepping closer.
"Now be a good girl and do what we say."
Two of them grabbed me, pinning me on both sides. Their hands dug into my arms, leaving painful marks on my skin.
"Aaron! Aaron, please help me!" I cried, thrashing, begging, helpless.
"If anything happens to me, he’ll rip you apart. You won’t live to see tomorrow!"
But they weren’t afraid. Not of him. Not of anyone.
"Boss, wouldn’t it be a shame to ruin her pretty little face like this?" one of them said.
Their leader approached me, a wicked smile on his face. I flinched, my body trembling, as he raised a hand to touch my face.
"Hold her tighter," he ordered. Their grip tightened. I felt the bruises already forming.
His fingers touched my cheek. I shut my eyes, disgusted and terrified, tears streaming, whispering silent prayers.
Please… someone… save me… before it’s too late.
