The next morning, I woke up tired. I always do. I'm that type of person who never gets enough sleep. Last night, I couldn't sleep because I kept thinking about Maverick. Was he really getting married to Charlotte? How is this even happening?

I stumbled out of bed and put on my snow leopard robe. I made my way downstairs. As I took a look at the ocean from my beach house window, I smiled. I love the beach and the ocean, and Miramar seemed like my happy place. I was hungry for breakfast, but I wasn't sure what to have... other that Dunkin Doughnuts coffee! It is only a half a mile behind my beach house, so it was only a short walk there.

In order to go to Dunkin Doughnuts, I had to change into my clothes. So I headed back upstairs to my room to put my clothes on. I put on a pair of jean shorts and a dressy shirt. I wore my pilot jacket along with it. It used to belong to my dad; he gave it to me because it grew out of him. I then headed into the bathroom and used some mouthwash so my breath wouldn't smell. After that, I guessed I was ready.

I got back downstairs and started leaving the house. I started walking down the road towards Dunkin. It wasn't even a mile away from my house; it was only a short walk.

Once I got there, I opened the door and allowed myself in. I was enjoying the smell of fresh coffee as I walked in the line for coffee and doughnuts.

It took forever for my turn for coffee. The cashier greeted me. I cleared my throat and said "One coffee, please!" The cashier nodded. "That'll be one dollar," she said.
(Haha... there's no such thing as one dollar coffee in California ;-;)

I handed her a dollar and she went off to make a cup of coffee. I continued to smell the wonderful scent of cocoa beans and fresh doughnuts as I waited for my coffee to be ready. Little did I know the person next in line (who was ordering at the time) wanted me.

I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. I smiled and sniffed the scent over and over again. I felt carefree. It took me away from my worries. I always love the smell of Dunkin Doughnuts.

"You're coffee, miss," the cashier handed me the coffee after waiting for a few minutes. I replied saying "Thanks!" and began to walk away. But just as I was about to leave, somebody stopped me.

"Madison!" A familiar voice called. I turned around and saw... Maverick. What is he doing here? He was holding onto a bouquet of sunflowers and was holding onto a box of doughnuts. He was still looking handsome, and I swear he was blushing as he stared at me.

"Maverick?" I said. "What are you doing here? And why are you carrying a bouquet of my favorite flowers?"

Maverick paused. "Umm..." he mumbled. "These were for Charlie, but I don't see her here this morning... so can I give them to you instead?"

I had a feeling Maverick was lying. He seemed to pause a lot while talking. Why was he giving flowers to me? Did he want to love me?

No. What am I thinking? Of course he doesn't! He already loves Charlotte!

"UGH!" Maverick confessed, "fine... I wanted to give you these flowers and doughnuts for you, Maddie. Just because."

Now, I stopped. Maverick brought those flowers and bought doughnuts for me? How nice! Why wouldn't I accept....

"Umm, thank you, Maverick!" I said cheerfully. "That's very nice of you to bring those to me!"

Maverick blushed. "You're welcome," he said.

"Why don't we sit by that table over there," Maverick pointed to a vacant table with two chairs. "By that window."

"Sure, we can," I replied.
