Mahiru stares at me with slightly wide eyes as she sits across from me at her dining room table.
Did I really say something absurd to her? Was it really that bad? I mean, I did make a major miscalculation and ended up nude in front of the wrong Igarashi. Of course, it was the younger one. Why did I not think about him possibly coming home early?
"You let him see you in the nude?" Mahiru asks, sounding and looking surprised by my actions. "Maya, I get you lived a shelter life before, but you need to know when certain things are appropriate or not. You may have grew up with HIC, but that doesn't excuse certain actions."
"Your job is to assist me, correct? Help me interact with people normally then if my actions are a problem."
"I am aware of how you were raised by HIC, so I get why you do what you do. I am going to do my best to make sure you don't do something like that again to that sweet boy. From what I know, Daiji is a shy boy who isn't used to seeing things like that."
"I was unaware of his age and apologized to him for the interaction. I did not mean any harm to Daiji." It isn't part of the mission to harm him anyways. "Daiji is not the target of the mission, so I lacked knowledge about him. Also, I was looking to surprise Ikki and not him. Apparently, I should have thought about him coming home early."
"I'll look into him some more for you. That way, Maya, you do not cause anymore issues moving forward. We do not need a scandal erupting. We do not know if we can fully trust Daiji or not." Mahiru isn't having any of it when it comes to Daiji.
"Why do you not trust him? There is nothing out of the ordinary about him." I do not comprehend what is wrong with him. "I have seen him with my own two eyes just as you did."
"I think there is something about him that is unsettling," she comments, shaking her head. "I don't know what it is, but you should be careful around him until I know more about him. I have friends who can tell me about him. Don't worry about it."
"You want me to be careful around the harmless brother?" What is there to be concerned about when it comes to Daiji? "He's a softie according to his family members. He isn't a threat to me or HIC at this time. He is merely an obstacle in our path."
"There is just something that makes me concerned about him," she responds. "Please, don't take him lightly at all. I feel like he's going to be involved in your life for some reason."
"Involved in my life?" Isn't that a good thing for him to be? It'll bring me closer to his brother, Ikki. "If I am close to him, wouldn't that get me closer to Ikki?"
