Was it really smart to agree to this so easily? I mean sure my life was a living hell, but just leaving to go to somewhere that could be worse... Well, I guess I have no choice. Everything is worth a chance. Besides, if it looks bad enough I can run. I don't know how I will escape since we haven't even got to the pack house, but if I need to I will.
What are you thinking so hard about? Em questions. I decide not to tell her I was already doubting this. I'm just confused on how we can only link each other. Everyone else can link their whole pack. It's not technically a lie. I have wondered about this before. Ask your mate. I sigh and nod.
"Uh mister Alpha? Why no me and sister link? We link each other but no pack link." I say. He gives me a smile. Did my talking sound a bit better? "One, please call me Josh or some nickname. My pack doesn't even call me Alpha. We are family. Two, in order to be able to mind link, you have to fully consider them your pack. You can't feel isolated from them and mind link. You and your sister basically considered each other your only pack member." He says.
"Wait you said Beta female.... Does that mean Leo has someone else?" My sister asks as her eyes brim with tears. I let out a loud growl. Leo bows his head. "Luna, I apologize that your sister is upset. Emberly I assure you, I don't have anyone else. He said Beta female because I have found you." Josh starts laughing. "Never have I met someone that with just a growl has Leo's head bowing and him apologizing. Although please only growl when it is really necessary." He says.
I nod. Even I had a hard time not bowing. It's going to be even harder when I have my wolf. I can't wait til we shift! Em says. Don't you have a mind reading mate? I ask. "She sure does Josie!" I groan. So my thoughts aren't my own? "Not around me." Josh looks at is confused. Leo you can talk. I hate the way my words come out. He nods. "Still a mind reader big brother. Your Josie is a quiet thinker. I can barely catch her thoughts. All it would take is for her to slightly mask her thoughts and I wouldn't hear a thing. I'm not use to that. It usually takes a very powerful wolf to hide their thouhts..."
I imagine a wall between my thoughts and Leo. "She's silent. Is she still breathing?" Leo asks looking at me alarmed. I give him a bright smile. Leo is a dummy! He doesn't say anything so I know it worked. My mate looks at me. "So, we are here. I've got to ask you girls a question. Would you rather share a room with each other or each of you share a room with your mate?"
I want to sleep with you. Is that ok? Em asks. Yeah. I reply. "Can we sleep together for now? I've never slept without her nearby." Em asks. "That fine. If you ever change your mind you can come find us." Josh says. We nod and he leads us inside a really beautiful place.

I look around outside and realize it is already nighttime. They lead us to the room we share and it is really nice.

Em gasps as she sees it. I don't notice the wall slipping, allowing Leo to hear my thoughts. Am I really allowed to sleep on the bed? Or are they trying to get us to slip up so they can punish us. "Josie, no one will hurt you here. Josh will make sure of it. You guys will be welcomed to the pack tomorrow. Josh had something to take care of so he has already gone to his office. Sleep well girls." He says.
Em looks at me. You think they will hurt us? She asks. I can't help it Emberly! Our entire lives we have been hurt! I've never had a day where I wasn't hit! I'm unable to speak properly! Do you realize how embarrassing it is to talk like a five year old at eighteen? I'm weak! I'm fragile! I'm broken! No one can fix that. My mate may think he can but in reality do you think it is possible? This isn't a story where the wolf finds his mate and she is instantly fixed! This is the reality of what happens. Either he will make things better, or he breaks me further. There is no in-between. I say.
Josie, eventually we will be ok. Eventually we will be safe. Eventually you will learn to trust. Eventually you will realize just how strong you are. You would still take a beating for me even if you were already in a lot of pain. That is strength. You have the strength to save me from my pain time and time again when most would just let it happen. You have the strength to care. You have the strength to save me from my demons even if your's are already battling you.
I love you Em. Thank you. I'm lucky to have you. I say nearly crying after what she said. We both sigh. "I need a shower." She say and I nod, needing one myself. We walk into the bathroom and there is a tub and a shower. "I call the tub." She says. I hate baths. I prefer showers anyway. I respond. We grab stuff and get clean. To most it would seem odd that we bathe in the same room but at our old pack we were forced to share a bath so this is nothing.
When we are done we go to our beds. The only thing is we spend a few hours tossing and turning. I sigh. Our mates sleep next door to each other... Is a wall separating us too much? She shakes her head and we head into our mates rooms. "Hey. What brings you here?" Josh asks from where he sits watching Netflix. "No sleep. Need you. Can I watch?" I ask. He smiles and nods. I sit next to him and he introduces me to Vampire Diaries.
I start to fall asleep leaning on him. He notices and picks me up bridal style. He carries me over to his bed and starts to walk off but I whimper. "I'm going to the couch sweetie. Unless you want me to stay?" He asks. "Stay. Please?" He smiles and nods. He lays on his back beside me and I cuddle into his side and lay me had on his chest. He wraps his arm around me protectively and that is when I decide... I don't care what life throws at me. As long as I have my mate it will all be ok.
