sunlight.
chapter nine -

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

LIGHT BLINDED Hanma's eyes the moment you both took steps outside of the building. After days of staying in- the two of you finally got sun. You two only go out during the whole night but recently you suggested to go out- the new cafe caught your eyes. Without a doubt, Hanma will definitely come with you.

"Can't wait to taste their desserts," Your voice was enough for Hanma to hear. A soft smile curved up from his face. His pace was slow to make sure he can walk together with you side by side.

He chuckles, "Your favorite dessert is?"

"Any!" You beamed. "As long it's yummy then I'm good." The man smiles. Who knew you were a sweet tooth.

The cafe wasn't that far away from the apartments land, just a few streets around the corner and you'll see it. With unknown faces walking on the street, it felt new for the both of you. It's always just the same two teenagers running down an empty street during the night.

Sure some neighboring people might get annoyed at how loud you both are, some didn't really mind, and a old married couple envied you both. Running around freely- those two old couple did that too.

Like a replica of their youth. Surely, they would want to spend that again. But since human ages, their bodies are already fragile. It's unbearable for them to run and play like when they were kids.

Even so, if they had the chance to age younger. They wouldn't hesitate to take it. After all, who would want to grow old in our world?

"What do you wanna eat?" You leaned on the table, both of your elbows placed on top as it supports your head from falling down. The refreshing air welcomes itself in from the window, blowing your hair in a direction.

Hanma sat across you, his face seems uninterested. He wasn't that fond of sweets. He just tagged along because of you, he knows that.

A brow lifts as his eyes scanned through the menu that was laid ontop of the wooden table. "What do you suggest?"

"Let's see," Tilting your head slightly whilst your mind starts on pondering. "Chocolate Cheesecake is their signature cake but I heard their Castella is also good!" Snapping your fingers- a smile that was stuck in your face.

The man infront of you whistles, "So it's either Chocolate Cheesecake and Castella?"

Nodding your head, you gave him a response. "We should buy those two. It's okay. We can share."

Whatever you say, Hanma will follow. And so he agrees and the two of you waited for the sweets to arrive. Words that went across Hanma's ears whenever you open your mouth. You were talkative while waiting but somehow it didn't annoyed him. Instead, he listens.

Trapped in a gaze he leans, sparkles that he sees inside of your eyes. You look happy and it's enough for him. A simple smile that you two can make will do. He won't ask for anything more.

"It's so sweet!" You covered your lips, chewing on the soft texture inside of your mouth. Hanma chuckles at the person infront of him with soft eyes.

The sweets you both ordered came not too long ago. And you decided to take the first bite of the sweet, eager to taste the sugary taste of the dessert that you haven't gotten to eat in so long.

Taking a decent slice of the sweet, you held the fork up front Hanma's mouth. He raises a brow, what where you trying to do?

You titter and a soft smile shows up afterwards. "Hanma, you should try it too."

The man swallows, his eyes looking at yours before focusing on the sweet steadily. It feels like he was hesitating, but why?

"What's taking you so long?" The once soft smile that was plastered on your face turns into a smirk. "If you don't want it, I'll just have it then-" You teasingly said.

The fork makes its way towards your lips, however it didn't ended up to yours. Your eyes slightly widen- Hanma takes a soft grip on your wrist. A teasing smirk that made its way on his face. And your fork was in his mouth as he slowly takes it out.

"It is sweet." Hanma stares into your soul. You didn't know how to react, usually you'd tease him back but your body was frozen for a second.

Hanma noticed it obviously. He gradually lets his hands go from your wrist and asks, "Something wrong?"

"No..." You look away, seemingly embarrassed and a hand covering your half of your face. "Nothing is wrong."

Hanma was loving your reaction, "Did my move make you like this? My, my, I didn't expect to see this side from you."

"Shut up!" The man infront of you catches a sound of your stifled laugh. He blinks, not getting any of it. "I-It's just...."

"What is?...."

And in a sudden, you burst off laughing. "The icing got on your chin." Wiping the small tears forming and trying to calm yourself down.

Hanma furrowed his brows whilst taking a napkin and wipes his chin. He looks down to see nothing on the napkin. "There's nothing...."

"It's a prank," You continue to laugh just when you were already starting to put yourself together down. "You're fun to tease with." Hanma lets it go today but he will have his revenge one day.

He needs a comeback too, y'know. Nonetheless, at least he got to see your smile today as well.

You were hiding it- hiding the flushing face. And you definitely won't let Hanma take a glimpse of it. So you tried to cover your face up with words that you made into believing him- and it did. It saved your image, for now- you were relieved.

And for him to see you in a state where he could easily have advantage, you wouldn't let that happen. It'll ruin the fun you made for yourself.

You were already fond of Hanma, and Hanma's attached to you. It's no living lie, you two haven't realized it yet. Not now.

The two of you still have a long road filled with laughter ahead of you. Living the teenage dream as they could say. And making memories all night beneath a thousand stars.

Both of you entered a room at the same time but can you two even make it out together?
