first snow.
chapter twelve -
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
"TODAY IS Christmas," Hanma could hear you sigh from beside him. Your head snuggling closer to his shoulder and eyes focused on the television. The man takes a peek at you, "Yeah. It is."
A hum that the teenager sitting beside him gave. It was cold- but the close warmth of your body made him cozy. The sound of the television that echoes around the living room. And the moon together with the stars can be seen from windowsill.
"Don't you think Christmas is kinda boring?" You questioned, eyes not bothered to look at the man you were snuggling with.
Hanma raises a brow at your words. Christmas has always been boring for him ever since the start- he doesn't know where the celebration for it even came from. "Elaborate?"
"For kids... they're always filled with different surprises- they don't know anything about the world yet so it's understandable." A voice that seems pained, why could that be?
Hanma listens attentively, a low hum coming out. Drowsy eyes focused on your figure, a corner of his lips curved up.
"Slowly- they're going to learn how everything are just lies. And all surprises will become boring." Ending your statement with you making eye contact with the man beside you.
Those words truly has some points, Hanma won't deny it. He lets out a low laugh, "You know many don't you think?"
"Is that so?" You chuckled, turning your head back to the front. Hanma noticed the bitter smile on your face. What kind of reaction is that?
"Then-" You continued. The light that came from the television shunned upon you both. As if Hanma was witnessing a movie happening infront of him.
"I've gone through alot."
You were tired. You gave up. There were no more chances- all doorways are now closed up. If you could only understand what their mind was thinking, the two of you would've been hanging out together instead of the man you were slowly getting attached to.
Was this perhaps a punishment ordered by the divine? If so, what wrong are you in? You don't deserve such thing- No one deserve such thing to be ripped off just like a scrap. No one does- everyone deserves kindness.
Seeing everything in the highest view, we're all just the same.
"It's snowing!" You exclaimed- eyes that were shining brighter than the stars. Both of you decided to treat yourselves to a nearby store. Buying snacks and drinks to spend the night with just the both of you, nothing else more.
Hanma giggles at your form. The weather forecaster never mentioned that it will be snowing today's year as well. It was all so sudden for white rain to fall down into the ground. But The man doesn't looks to be bothered by it. Your wide spread smile was enough for Christmas to start.
Your legs takes you in the middle of the empty street- no cars nor people passing by at this hour. It was already passed by midnight, who would even go out at such time by themselves?
The man steps away from you watches your figure- Head arched up, eyes closed, the sound of an echoed laughter, and body that spinned around the place- were you perhaps making yourself dizzy at this point?
A teenager having fun most of their time. There's nothing wrong with that. Youths should enjoy their day of being young- cause maybe by a blink of an eye. You'll be in your elderly years- who knows. We'll never know that much about the future.
"Hanma!" You waved your hands at the man standing feets away from your body. You just couldn't have fun only by yourself- Hanma should be there too.
The young man chuckles at your form, he inserts both of his hands on the hoodie he was wearing to keep himself warm from the cold air that was circling around the atmosphere.
"What is it?" He calls back loud and clear- enough for you to hear.
Lowering your arm back to your sides, you crouched down. Taking a handful snow that was forming in the ground and turning it to a ball.
Hanma already knows what you were going to do next. You were going to throw a snowball at him- it was pretty much obvious but he acts clueless just for you to enjoy the special day.
You stood up and stumbling on both of your feet. And with a beat of an second- you threw the snow at Hanma. It made an impact- not really that strong nor weak it was so-so.
Both of you laughed in sync, melodies that came after one another. Hanma takes out one of his hands from the pockets of his hoodie to wipe out the white particles sticking to his clothing.
"C'mon!" Spreading your arms open wide with a beam stuck on your face. Does your muscle face even get exhausted from smiling almost everyday? There's nothing wrong with it still, right?
Hanma stares at the young lady standing a few feet away. And you continued, "Hit me too!"
"Be my guest," And with no hesitation. Hanma lowers his torso down to form a snowball with his hands to throw it out for you. But he didn't expect that you would actually dodge the attack. He could hear your laugh from a certain distance.
Hanma even gave effort on throwing that snowball- but it missed. And at this point you were just running away from Hanma's throws. Time passing by slowly yet so fast- fifteen minutes had passed and you both were still throwing snowballs at eachother. Ignoring the chill breeze that would pass by at some point of time.
"Loser!" You teased at the man who was just three steps away from you. A magical wonderland you were experiencing. It was like forgetting about the other people in the world.
Hanma scoffs, running his way towards the figure feets away. "Let's see about that!"
You tried to run but with no avail- you fell on the soft-pillow like ground. Hanma's arms wrapped around your body, you could feel how warm he was. And eyes that were getting drowsy as seconds pass by.
"I caught you," He mutters beside your ear. The most sensitive part of your body but you tried to fight it off. With flushed coming up, you shoved your head on his chest- hoping that he wouldn't see your flushing face.
"You did..."
Both of you stayed in that position for a few more minutes. Surely, the both of you will catch a cold again but you only get to do this once a year- it's not a big harm for you and him.
Hanma likes it when he's hugging you this way. Like a teddy bear, you could say. Who cares about the snow? As long he's with you, he'll be fine.
His Christmas present arrived earlier than he expected- it filled his incomplete days filled with bright lights with the same actors just a different setting each day. He doesn't get tire of this definitely.
....And that present is you.
