Chapter 6: Evangeline and Gamma Rick
It's been a week since I started staying in this pack. Alpha Grumps never faltered in trying to assert his dominance onto me. I honestly don't get why he still keeps doing it, doesn't even affect me and only makes Loriana mad at him. That sly pregnant she-wolf though, she's giving birth anytime this week. She's been bouncing on the bed with excitement. Me however, vowed to protect her and her pups for as long as I live. I don't know why, but I really do feel this pull towards her that tells me to protect them.
That's what pushed me to knock on Grumps' office.
"Come in." I entered and his brow instantly shot up. "What do you want, Evangeline?"
"I'd like to train as a warrior." I answered.
"Why would I let someone with Alpha's blood do that? You might just be after my position." He scoffed.
Did I intimidate him that much? I haven't even done anything against him.
"I want to be the Luna's protector." I said with a shrug. He slammed his fist on his table as he stood up.
"You think I can't protect my own mate, pup?" He snarled.
"We both know you won't always be here, you've got Alpha business too."
"I have my officials, my warriors. Why would I need you?" He said.
"They have a pack to protect. Your officials have a pack to look over just as much as you do." I looked him in the eyes and I knew he knew I was right.
"Fine, but make sure my mate is safe or so help me I will banish you from this pack. You're dismissed." He said after a breath. I smirked and walked out of his office.
I went back to my room to find Loriana on my bed. She squeeled when she saw me and my smirk.
"Did he accept?" She said with a tinge of hope in her tone. I just nodded.
Training tomorrow with Gamma Rick. Don't be late. I heard him say in my head. I've been officially joined into the pack 4 days ago allowing me to link with them now.
"Go back to your room, Lori." She pouted but went to her room.
The next day came quite quickly and I was up and about already prepared for training. Alpha Grumps directed me towards the training ground where the Gamma, Gamma Rick, stood waiting beside Grumps.
"Today we will first see what you can do. Prepare for sparing." Alpha Grumps ordered. "No mangling, I still need my Gamma alive and kicking."
I rolled my eyes before taking a stance opposite Gamma Rick. I mirrored the smug smirk he had on his face.
We circled each other and waited for one to pounce first. He quickly caught on that I won't attack unless provoked, so he vaulted towards me. Before he could hit my body, the back of my foot hit his side knocking the wind out of him. He collided with the floor but quickly composed himself.
We circled again til I realized he must've learned his lesson so I threw a couple of punches towards him which he dodged. He threw a jab at me which caught me of guard and connected with my jaw. I stumbled back a little, spitting out blood with along with a tooth.
He locked his eyes at me a bit wary. I just smirked at him with blood prickling down the side of my lip. This annoyed him so he threw combinations of punches at me which I dodged swiftly.
I slipped down with my leg extended and spun around knocking him down to the ground. I didn't wait for him to react, I held his hand to his back with a twist. He groaned and tried to reach for my hair but I was having none of it.
"You win! You win!" Gamma Rick said banging his free hand on the ground.
"How was that, Alpha Grumps?" I asked. He glared at me as I realize his alias has slipped my mouth. "I mean Alpha Vyctor."
"Good", he said with a scowl before turning to Rick. "Train her with your warriors."
Ah finally this pack becomes beneficial to me, I thought as I stretched.
We're stronger than they ever will be Evangeline, so what's the use? My wolf asked seeming to be a bit bored.
Practice makes best, my dear gorgeous wolf. I thought as I ran a hand through my matted hair.
What ever! She said as she made herself comfortable. Waste of time.
