Jibeom's POV

I barely move as my father slams the newspaper onto his desk. I had already gotten too used to do this that nothing he does can make me flinch. Still, it's not like that makes me be able to stand against him and still stay doing so even as he hits me with his staff.

I stand at his office now because he had called me in after what happened infront of the Heaven's Cloth building. Of course, the reporters still took pictures of what had happened, but thankfully, they left right after, no other questions asked. It seems me and Y/N kissing was just enough to write an article after everything Y/N had said.

I feel proud of her. And I'm glad that I have her as my girlfriend. If only... my father was just as glad as me.

"You think..." he starts, pausing as he visibly fumes with the anger he's trying to hold in for some reason, "You think what you did is actually gonna help you?" A sarcastic laugh then escapes him as he looks at me with a disbelieving sneer. "Do you have any idea what that did to your and your company's reputation?" he asks, his sneer immediately turning into a really angry expression as he looks at me.

I breathe once before I open my mouth to respond, looking him in the eye as I respond. "I'm dating the CEO of SilverLining, Father. I thought you knew."

Suddenly, he slams his own hands onto the table, and my eyes widen as I look at him. His joints, especially, his wrists, aren't really in the best health condition right now, and slamming his hands hard on the table like he just did would be a bad idea.

"Father! Your wrist-"

"Stop with that nonsense!" he suddenly says, cutting me off as he looks at me with an angry and disappointed look. "If you really cared about me, then you would have done your best to keep your own reputation clean for the sake of the company!"

My brows furrow at his words, and at how he just disregarded his health like that. Is he really just gonna keep acting like this? I clench my fists as I stand straight infront of him. "Father, I know you care about the company a lot because this is your lifeline and the supposed lifeline of all your descendants, but this company? This company isn't your actual life. And it isn't mine either nor will it be the life of any of your descendants. Why can't you see that caring about it more isn't really gonna help anyone?" I ask him, softly as I can while I look at him with concern.

He just brings his hand to his forehead, massaging it as he looks down at his desk. "Are you done?" he then asks, and my furrowed brows turn into ones that symbolize irritation.

"Father-"

"If you are, then go work up some sort of explanation for what happened this morning. Say that girl actually harrassed you or something."

My eyes widen at his words, and I slam my hands on his table as a look of disbelief forms on my face. "Father!"

"If you won't do it, then I will!" he suddenly shouts back as he looks at me angrily, and my eyes widen.

"You wouldn't," I tell him, and he breathes out a scoff.

"Are you testing my power, Jibeom?"

Suddenly, my instincts act up, and I find myself grabbing my father's collar and looking him in the eye angrily. "Don't you dare do anything to Y/N! I swear, if she ever gets hurt because of you, I'll-" I stop when my father looks at me dully and I realize what I'm doing. Immediately, I let him go.

I had never attacked him before. And I never planned to. But this time, I had spiralled out of control.

I quickly step back before I look at my father to see him looking unusually calm as he adjusts his sitting position and fixes his tie. "Father-"

"If you don't want anything to happen to that bit-"

"Father."

"...to that girl, then do as I say and do a better job of taking care of the company... and marry the Chou family's daughter."

I lower my gaze as I feel my heart getting pierced and tears coming to my eyes.

He just never tries to understand, doesn't he?

"Y-yes-" I eventually reply, but I only meant to say that for his first statement. As for the second...

Why would I ever marry someone I don't love right when I already have someone I do love?

...

Your POV

"Y/N!"

A smile forms on my face when I hear that familiar voice, and I turn around to see Jibeom approaching me, a smile on his face as well.

Ever since the incident last night, we had agreed to find another meeting place so as to have more privacy. Even though our relationship had already been exposed, it would be really uncomfortable knowing someone might actually be watching us. And so, we moved to a different meeting place, this one being more... secluded.

"You're here," I say as I fully turn to him just as he finally reaches me.

Suddenly, Jibeom pulls me towards him and takes me into his embrace, surprising me and making me widen my eyes as I hadn't expected this.

Is there something wrong?

"Y/N..." he finally speaks up, sounding the happiest I've ever heard him, as he hugs me tightly. "I'm so so glad I could finally have you again."

My expression softens as I hear his words, and a smile eventually forms on my face as I hug him back, closing my eyes as I rest my head on his chest. "I thought something had happened again. I guess you're just really happy to see me again."

"Aren't you happy to see me, too?" he then asks, and I chuckle.

"Why wouldn't I? I love you, after all."

Jibeom chuckles, and he pulls back from me before looking at me with a smile. "And I love you."
