I stretch my arms out while facing the sea, the wind blowing in my face and blowing my hair back as I wear a calm expression on my face. Beside me, I can feel Jibeom's gaze on me while we stand on the beach we had gone to to relax.

"Do you like the sea, Y/N?" he asks me, and I open my eyes before turning to him.

"Well, I guess you could say that... Though, I don't really like it in particular, neither do I dislike it," I tell him as I drop my arms to my side.

The sun is still up, but there aren't really many people out here. It kinda makes it feel like it's just Jibeom and me here. It's perfect.

Jibeom softly giggles at me before he looks towards the sea. "Yeah... I agree."

I watch him for a moment. It's been so long. He looks so peaceful now just like the night I met him. I guess we both have been going through some really tough times, we could barely be there for each other.

I wear a small smile on my face before looking down at his hand, loosely hanging on his side. My smile twitches for a second, then I bring my hand closer to his, soon taking it in mine and clasping our hands together.

Jibeom then turns to me with wide eyes. "Y/N-"

"We're dating publicly now, anyway," I tell him with a playful smile. "At least, now, we don't need to hide it anymore." I giggle, and his expression softens as he looks at me with a soft smile. He then approaches me and places a kiss on my forehead before back-hugging me as the both of us look towards the sea.

"I like this," he says randomly, and I turn to him curiously.

"Hmm?"

"This," he repeats, and I realize he's talking about the situation we are in right now.

"Ah... Yes, of course," I say, giggling again.

"Let's come back here once everything is settled, okay?" he asks.

A slightly sad smile makes its way to my face as I look down. "Is that a promise?" I ask, sounding more hopeful than sad.

Jibeom pauses, but soon he responds, hugging me tighter and bringing his face closer to mine as he does so. "Definitely."

A light chuckle escapes me, and I look towards the sea as I finally respond to his actual question. "Alright, then. Let's come back here soon, then."

I sense Jibeom smiling once again before he kisses me once again on my temple.

...

The next day, work had been just like usual, only different when Yeji suddenly bursts into my office, only looking a lot more troubled than usual. And I mean a lot.

"Yeji, what's wron-"

"Y/N! He's been caught! The police found evidence that it was Director Oh who killed your mother!" she suddenly announces as she reaches my desk.

My eyes widen, and I slam my hands on my desk as I stand up. "W-what? Where's Director Oh right now?!"

Suddenly, Ms. Kim enters the room, and I can tell she's also bearing news concerning my mother's case. "Ma'am! It's Director Oh. He's in the lobby and he's displaying aggressive behavior right now!"

I turn to her, and my expression suddenly turns into fear as I realize the situation. "Call the police. Make sure the security guards keep him under control while we wait for them to arrive. I'm going down there to meet him."

Both women then turn to me in surprise.

"What? But, Y/N!" Yeji complains as she approaches me once again. "He's aggressive! If he sees you, he could actually hurt you!"

I turn to her, then I give her a reassuring smile as I place my hand on her shoulder. "I'll keep my distance," I promise her, before I leave my office, the other two following closely behind."

Finally, I reach the first floor, and as soon as I reach the lobby, the first thing I do is shout and announce my arrival to the deranged man in the room. "Director Oh!".

Suddenly, everyone turns to me, including the man who I had always been sure to be the cause of my mother's death. Turns out, it actually is him. And I can even see the panicked state he had fallen in once he realized he had been caught.

His whole being, from his hair to his clothes, have been ruined and all covered in sweat, and I can almost see the craziness in his eyes even from this distance.

Suddenly, he shouts angrily then starts running towards me to attack me. However, the guards are quick enough to grab him and stop him, holding his arms behind him and making him kneel to the ground. What's funny is that he even still tries to defend himself after obviously attempting to harm me.

"What are you doing? Let go of me, you idiots! I didn'g do anything! This is a whole misunderstanding! Look at her! She seems unaffected at all! It's obvious she killed her own mo-" The man stops speaking suddenly, however, but that's because I had kicked him in between his legs. Hard enough to make sure it hurt him like hell. He whimpers, and I glare down at him with a deadly gaze.

"I could actually kill you right now, director," I tell him threateningly. "But I'm no monster like you. You should be thankful to the woman you killed. She's the one who taught me to be merciful."

He looks up at me with a pained expression just as I hear police car sirens arriving at the scene. Then, he's taken away.

It felg different seeing him beinv taken away by the policemen. It felt good, but at the same time, my heart sort of felt heavy. It's as if I just realized now that my mother really is gone.

Once the police cars taking Director Oh had gone, a deep breathe escapes me, and I turn around to face Yeji and Ms. Kim.

I just feel my eyes getting watery again as I approach Yeji and hug her, hiding my face in her shoulder. She pats me gently as I quietly cry in her arms.

Finally... Finally...
