The Accident

The next day, it is Paige's 20th birthday and she receives a text message from Jasper to come to his apartment. Paige gets dressed and head to Jasper and Emma's apartment. Once she arrives, Jasper opens the door. "Hey, birthday girl!", Jasper smiled. "Good morning, Uncle Jasper.", Paige smiled , as she hugs him.

"Happy birthday, kiddo.", Jasper replied, as he kept hugging her. "Thank you. So, what is it that you want me here for?", Paige asked. "Close your eyes.", Jasper replied. "What?", Paige asked. "Just close your eyes, Paige.", Jasper replied.

"Ok.", Paige sighed as she closes her eyes. Jasper held Paige's hands as he guides her around the apartment. "Ok, what is it, Uncle Jasper?", Paige asked. "You'll see. Just one more step.", Jasper replied, and he stops at the spot, and make sure Paige is facing the right way.

"Open your eyes.", Jasper replied. Paige opens her eyes and to her surprise, Jasper and Emma surprises her with a homemade birthday breakfast. "Surprise!", both Jasper and Emma cried. Paige squeals and is happy with joy. "Happy birthday, kiddo.", Jasper replied, hugging her.

"What is this?", Paige asked. "This is your birthday breakfast, the best way to start your birthday and I had Emma make some of of your favourites.", Jasper replied. "Thank you, guys.", Paige replied, as she looks at the table, filled with her favourite breakfast foods.

"Chocolate-chip pancakes?", Paige asked. "Yep, your uncle told me that you're crazy about them, so I made them from scratch.", Emma replied. "Thanks, Em.", Paige replied. "C'mon. Let's eat.", Jasper replied. "Ok!", Paige replied.

The trio sat down together and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, Jasper and Emma gives Paige her gift. Paige opens Emma's gift and it was a bee tea cup. "A bee tea cup! I love it! Thanks, Em!", Paige cried, as she hugs Emma. "You're welcome, and I'm glad you like it.", Emma smiled.

Then, Jasper gives Paige his gift. "Open this one, kiddo.", Jasper replied, giving Paige her gift, which is wrapped. Paige opens it and inside was a gold heart bracelet. "It was your mother's.", Jasper replied. Paige took it out of the box and held it in her hands.

"I gave it to her on her 20th, and it feels right if I give it to you on your 20th as well.", Jasper replied. Paige looks at it and heart charm pendant is engraved with Lily's name. "It's beautiful, Uncle Jasper.", Paige sighed.

"Mind if you...", Paige asked, asking him to put the locket on her. "Yeah, yeah.", Jasper replied, taking the locket from her hands, and undo the chain. Paige moves her hair to the side and Jasper puts locket around Paige's neck, before looking at it. "It suits you.", Jasper sighed.

Paige hugs him. "Thank you, Uncle Jasper.", Paige sighed. "You're welcome, kiddo.", Jasper sighed. "Oh, and we have one more surprise for you.", Jasper replied. "What?", Paige asked. Jasper gives her his iPad, and plays a video. It was her dad.

"Hey, princess. Happy Birthday! I'm sorry that I won't be able to fly to New York see you on your birthday, so I hope this video message will be enough for you. I'm so happy and proud of you winning Regionals and I wish you the best of luck at Nationals. I'll see you soon, sweetheart. I love you.", Luke replied.

Paige is touched by her dad's words. "He didn't forget.", Paige sighed. "No, he would never, Paige.", Jasper replied. Paige hugs both Emma and Jasper. "Thanks for this.", Paige sighed. Moments later, Paige goes to see Sky. "I promise Sky that I would go see him. So I'm going to his place right now. ", Paige replied.

"Want me to drive you?", Jasper asked. "No, it's fine. I can walk there myself, but thanks.", Paige smiled. "Ok, fair enough. But come back at 6pm, we're going to reserve a table at The Grill tonight.", Jasper replied. "Ok. Can Sky join?", Paige asked. "Sure.", Jasper smiled.
