A week later, Glen has retired from teaching and Sky becomes the new dance instructor for Paige's class. On his first day as an instructor, Sky is nervous, as his students are waiting for him in the classroom. "Good afternoon, class.", Sky replied. "Good afternoon, Sky.", everyone called out.
"Today, we'll be going into pairs again, so grab your partners and dance.", Sky called out. Paige put her bag down as Sky calls out for her. "Paige!", Sky called out, and she walks up front of the crowd and joins Sky. As they dance, they start a conversation.
"Hey.", Paige greeted with a smile. "Hi.", Sky smiled. "I hear that the academy is participating the Regionals.", Paige replied. "I know and I want you to dance with me at the Regionals.", Sky replied. "Me, dance at the Regionals with you?", Paige asked.
"Of course, you're my dancing partner, and I always participate every dance competition that New York has to offer, and I want you to be there by my side, even to dance with me.", Sky replied.
"I have enter many dance competitions in my life, but never perform a dance routine with a partner.", Paige sighed. "Then I'll teach you. Meet me after class, and we'll start with dance lessons, and hopefully you'll be ready for the Regionals.", Sky replied.
After class, everyone has left. As Jessica and Fay are preparing to leave, Paige is still packing her bag. "Ready to go, Paige?", Jessica asked. "You guys go ahead, I'll be staying here to practice for a while.", Paige replied.
"Ok, see you back at our dorm.", Fay replied, as she and Jessica left the dance studio, leaving Paige by herself. After Jessica and Fay left, Paige waits for Sky. Wanting to kill time, Paige decided to dance to one dance that her mom danced before.
Paige takes out her phone, connect it to the Bluetooth speakers and plays one of her mother's favourite songs; Footprints In the Sand by Leona Lewis.
As the song begins to play, Paige walks up to the mirror and looks at her reflection, when suddenly, she saw her mother's reflection in the mirror in front of her, gasping her and back to her own reflection.
Paige began to dance to the music and performs her mother's contemporary dance routine. As she dance, she remembered the day she was born, and the moment she first cried. Unknowing to her, Sky came to the classroom and saw her dancing, so he stood outside and watch her dance.
Paige kept dancing, as she remembers after she was born, her mother then pass out, suffering from a cardiac arrest, and died minutes later. As Paige remembers how her mother had died, she starts to cry, and falls to the ground, breaking down in tears. Sky comes in and sat next to her.
"Paige, you ok?", Sky asked. But Paige didn't say a word and she hugs Sky, while crying on him. Sky held her tight as she cries. Minutes later, Jasper and Emma came into the dance studio, after getting a call from Sky and enters the classroom, finding Paige, being comforted by Sky.
"Paige! Are you ok?", Jasper asked, but Paige didn't answer. Jasper turn to Sky for answers. "What happened?", Jasper asked. "I don't know, she was dancing for a minute and the next thing, she was crying.", Sky replied.
Jasper held Paige's face with his hands and makes her look at him, while Emma rubs Paige's back for comfort. "Hey, what's wrong, kiddo?", Jasper asked. "It's nothing.", Paige sighed. "Paige, your uncle was worried about you after Sky called us.", Emma replied.
"You can tell me, kiddo.", Jasper sighed. "It's Mom. I remember how she died.", Paige cried, as tears comes down from her cheeks. "Oh, come here, kiddo.", Jasper sighed, hugging Paige in his arms.
Minutes later, Paige is calm and Emma takes her to the bathroom to clean her face, while Sky and Jasper remain in the classroom. "Thanks for calling me, man.", Jasper replied. "No worries, man. But I don't know why her mother's death upsets her.", Sky replied.
"Well, that's a long story, Sky. Lily, Paige's mother was my sister. She was a professional dancer like us. Lily passed away after Paige was born due to complications. Paige lost her mother, and I lost my sister that day. I'll never forget the day my sister died.", Jasper sighed.
"I'm sorry, Jas. I had no idea.", Sky replied. "It's fine. I moved on, but Luke, Paige's dad is still in grief. When Paige told me that she wants to follow Lily's footsteps, it made me even more happy. Knowing that she wants to keep her mother's legacy alive.", Jasper replied.
"You must be proud of Paige.", Sky replied. "Yeah, I am. She reminded me of my sister and she's braver than I'll ever be.", Jasper sighed. Then Paige returns to the classroom with Emma. Jasper went to check on Paige. "Hey, you ok, kiddo?", Jasper asked. "I am now.", Paige smiled.
"Anyways, we're going to head off.", Jasper replied. "Ok, see ya later man.", Sky replied. "See ya, and thanks again.", Jasper smiled, as he and Emma leaves the studio, leaving Sky and Paige in the classroom alone. "Are you ok?", Sky asked, putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm ok.", Paige replied. "Ok, in Regionals, you have to perform 2 dance routine, solo and duet.", Sky replied. "Two?!", Paige asked. "Yes. I'll teach you with the duet, and Jasper will teach you the solo. For our duet dance routine, we'll perform a Rumba to Impossible.", Sky replied.
Sky held Paige into position, they start dancing, and even think of what move to do for the routine, before dancing with the music. Sky plays the song; Impossible by Marlisa on the speaker and the two start dance their routine.
So, everyday after class, Paige and Sky would stay at the studio late to practice their dance routine in secret, so that Paige would be ready for the Regionals, and Jasper starts teaching Paige her solo routine. "Ok, your solo for the Regionals will be jazz and the song will be dancing to it is Ain't No Other Man by Christina Aguilera.", Jasper replied.
Jasper come up with dance moves and teaches Paige how to do them successfully and soon Paige nailed all the moves for her solo and duet dance routine. As the days passed, Paige is able to learn all of the moves for the duet dance routine, which made Sky happy.
"You're ready!", Sky smiled. "I am?", Paige asked. "Yes! You are ready for the Regionals!", Sky replied. "Yes!", Paige cried with joy, as she hugs Sky, wrapping her arms around his neck, and he wraps his arms around her waist, lifting her up and spinning her around, while laughing.
That night, Paige and Sky left the dance studio and Sky escorts her back to NYU. "You're doing great with the routine, Paige.", Sky replied. "Thanks, I never thought I would nail it so quick in time.", Paige replied. "Well, more practice, the better.", Sky laughed.
They arrive to NYU's front entrance. "Hey, thanks for walking me back.", Paige replied. "No worries.", Sky replied, as he looks at Paige for a long moment. Sky then leans in, close to her face, almost touching her lips. Paige closes her eyes, preparing herself, but as their lips almost touch, Sky stops and pulls away from her.
Paige notice Sky hasn't kiss her. "What's wrong?", Paige asked. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done it.", Sky replied, as he rubs his forehead. "No, it's ok. You didn't do anything!", Paige replied. Then, Paige's phone starts ringing, and it was Luke, who is video-calling her. "Shoot! It's my dad!", Paige cried.
"I gotta get going, my dad is waiting for my call. I'll see you tomorrow!", Paige replied. "Ok, see you tomorrow.", Sky replied, as he leaves and Paige goes inside NYU, heading back to her dorm room.
