I sat in the car pondering how it all came to be but came up clueless like always. I have been hood winked! Tricked into signing that bloody agreement.  There was no other way in looking at it. I was beyond help. I was my own worst enemy.  Why? Oh why did I do it?

I thought back to that momentous moment.  I had been on the brink of making my escape.  My hand had been gripping at the door and yet here I was trapped. With no way of escape.

I turned to my tormentor seated so calmly so casually right beside me. As if he was innocent of all crimes against my person.  For it was a crime.  Forcing someone against their will to sign a contract was surely a crime. But it was an ingenious crime. One I cannot get out of other then having myself committed as insane. I was sure I was half way there already. I must surely be. For Mark had not held a gun to my head. He had not threaten me with bodily harm but instead he led me by a firm grip on my elbow on to where the documents lay scattered where I left them on the coffee table.

Picking up the discarded pen, he placed it in my hand and told me," Sign!"

And I did.

So now here I was buckled into a seat beside him being driven off into the country.  We had stopped by at my home to fetch my bags and then here we were sitting side by side in this tension filled but otherwise very silent car.

I wondered if he would on the radio.  If I should on the radio.  But I had my I pod with me. So I could listen to that instead.  Would that be rude if I did? But it wasn't as if he was making an attempt at conversation anyway.  I was also too not much inclined to respond let alone come up with something suitable to talk about. And I should bother about upsetting him. I was fired. I didn't have to cater to his whims anymore.

So why was I even in this car with him?

I didn't know.

I reached down to fumble into my bag and dig out my ipod. Fixing both ends of the earpiece into my ears I switched on the music.  Only to watch the long lean fingers of Mark's elegant hand sweep out before me to blast on th music in the Bentley's expensive stereo.

The shock ran down through my spine rattling through my bones till the earphones popped out of their own accord.

I replaced my ipod then and stared ahead quietly for as long as it took for my exhausted mind and body to relax sufficiently to doze off into sleep.
