In an unexpected turn of events I found myself escorted to Mark's annual bash held for clients and close friends. I turned to Ron sure this was all wrong.
"Are you sure we should be doing this. It all seems so wrong," I say my voice heavy with doubt. I was certain it what we were about to is a crime if some sort. I was sure there was a legislation to that effect that would not only bind me behind prison bars for the rest if my life but send my own mum to her death bed from pure shock.
"Imposter...impersonation..," I mumbled beneath my breath searching for the right term for what I was about to do. It seemed almost unfair that rapists, thieves and murders all know the what they did was criminal before they were arrested for the crime they committed but I was totally an imposter in even that for as a criminal to be I hadn't any idea if what I was about to do was infact a crime.
"What are you doing?" Ron whispered in my ear as we slowly made our way up the long crowded drive on foot. My heels was starting to pinch. I held on tight to Rons arm for balance as teeters on the brink of my stilettos on the uneven paving.
"I am trying to know my crime before I am committed for it," I say in a calm and dignified manner.
Ron burst out laughing doubling over and almost tugging me to the groung before him. I managed to release his arm just in time.
"Shit! What is wrong with you?" I glare down at him sure that in another moment he would be rolling around the floor in hilarity.
"Me? You are the one thinking crazy. Its not a crime to be engaged," he says soothingly as if placating a two year old.
I swear at him. "We are not engaged," I hiss out rudely.
"I know that. You know that and Mark knows that but there is no need to let the rest of the world know it," he said getting serious.
"It was your damn foolish idea. I should never have let you follow me in," I said angrily not quite caring who was listening.
"If I hadn't followed you in, you would have been engaged for real. Is that what you want," he asked seriously looking down at me searchingly in the dim glow of the street lamp trying to get a read on my expression.
"Nooo..,"I practically wailed at him. What I wanted was for his cute gay but to be less gay.
