I almost palpitated in shock when Brett moved over and covered my hand in his before swinging me into a tight embrace and said, “You were always so silly.”

Then he stood back and looked down at me with a tender amused grin and said, "So shall we go in."

Numbed with shock I could only follow as he lead on as we crossed over the yard to my door step. With fumbling hands I inserted the key and turned. The musty smell of a closed up house greeted me as I swung the door open. Without hesiation I marched in and fumbled along the wall in the dark feeling for the switch. My hand connected with something, something warm and soft and I let out a piercing scream.

Brett boomed out his laughter in spades. The echoes of it resounded around the mostly empty house. Then the light came on and I realised that it was his hand that I had felt in the dark. He had been feeling for teh swtches as well.

I scowled at him to show my displeasure  at being laughed at but he only grinned in return. I decided then to ignore him entirely, after all I was selling the house to Josh. Brett did not deserve my time of day. So I gave him what I persumed must be the cut-direct and turned my attention to Josh. Ignoring the chuckle Brett let loose from my childish actions I went on to give Josh the once over on the house. I realsied if I kept my gaze on the room I was showing I could manage to communicate without the stutter that his awe inspiring looks would have otherwise  produced in me.

I started off with the living room and then went on to the dining room and kitchen and then above stairs to all the other rooms swtching on the lights as I went. We rounded the house and returned back to the entrance. Brett marched on outside and so hesitatingly I followed while Josh stayed back to do a final inspection on his own before he to joined us on the patio.

It was a warm almost humid night.
