Amelia

My mom once told me that one day when I will find my true love, my heart would never let go of him and I told her that I would love to have a love story, just like hers, but everytime I would praise her relationship with Antonio Accardi, she would look away from me, with a sad smile on her face.

I never understood her sadness till now. I thought she was happy with my father and that he always loved her and treated her well but now, I was ashamed to call him my father.

I lived in lies my whole life and now I felt broken, empty and betrayed. But what was hurting me more was not the truth, it was the fact that Kyle, the man I blindly trusted, kept everything hidden from me even when I asked for the truth.

His silence during all these times was hurting me, breaking me more. It felt as if he was killing me but I was still here, loving him even after the hurt and pain he caused me.

I remained in our room, thinking about all this mess. I allowed the silence to drown me and melt all these pains, but I was still bleeding inside.

Someone suddenly entered the room and I felt his intense gaze over me. I closed my eyes tightly, feeling his presence. Even after all the pain and hurt, he still brought peace to me, his presence was enough to make me feel safe.

"Amelia!" he softly called out, his voice rough with pain and grief.

Hearing his voice like that, broke me. It was as if he was as weak I was, we were both each other's weakness.

"I know you wouldn't talk to me but,"

I turned to him and he stopped talking, as if he didn't expect I would have turned. His eyes were red of unshed tears, his hair in a complete mess, his hands bruised yet he had a plate of pancakes in his hands, which I was sure was prepared by Maëva

Seeing him in this state, made my heart ached more and I sighed. I walked to him and he remained silent, his eyes always on me.

"Did you fight?" I softly asked, taking the tray away from him and I held his hands in mine.

He didn't reply. He only kept his eyes on me, silently begging me to forgive him.

I took the first aid kit and went back to him, motioning him to sit on the couch. What was surprising was that he obeyed me, and he never obeyed me easily.

I kneeled down in front of him, taking his hands in mine and cleaned his wounds, while he kept his eyes on me the whole time. He definitely went to vent his anger in a fight but he didn't have any bruise on his face, but I was pretty sure the others were bleeding.

"My mother loved to play the piano when my father was out for business, and whenever she would play, I would dance to her music, as I drowned myself in the peaceful rythym. But when my dad would be back, she would stop playing and he would greet me before telling me to go to my bedroom as he wanted to spend some time with his wife..."

"Am..."

"I would obediently go back to my room, thinking that they were perfect and happy together. Everytime my father came back home, he would give my mother a new choker as a gift and he told me that this was his way of giving her gifts. But now I understand what he truly meant, to him she was a worthless woman who he claimed as his. I mistook their relationship as love and I was raised in lies!" I continued speaking, while he listened.

"Amelia, I'm sorry! I know I should have told you the truth since the first time itself, and I regret everything," he started but I quickly silenced him with a kiss, a soft kiss he didn't expect.

My lips brushed his, softly, delicately, like butterfly wings, just long enough that he could inhale my breath, I could feel the warmth of his skin on mine, and time around us stopped.
