Blake held onto the front of Caiden's shirt as he led the horse out to the field. "Today is such a beautiful day," she commented, staring out at the trees that were beginning to change color. Autumn had arrived and the air was a bit cool, but she loved it.
"It is," Caiden agreed.
"Do you think Brick will like jumping into leaf piles?"
"I can almost guarantee it." A few nights before, they were sorting through their dirty clothes and Brick jumped right into the pile of clothes. He had a fantastic time before Caiden pulled him out.
She leaned her head on the back of his shoulder, closing her eyes, and enjoying the ride. The cool air filled her lungs as well as Caiden's masculine scent. She couldn't imagine anywhere else she'd rather be.
When they got to the field, they jumped off the horse and Caiden tied him to a post. Then he laid down a blanket underneath a tree a few yards away for them to sit on.
"What are we doing out here?" She asked. He hadn't told her anything, just asked if she wanted to go for a ride.
He shrugged his shoulders and leaned back against the blanket, pulling her with him. "Just felt like it."
"Alrighty then," she giggled.
She laid her head on his chest and wrapped an arm around his waist. Caiden laced their hands together.
"Do you see yourself living here permanently?"
She furrowed her eyebrows. "Yes. I wouldn't leave you and Wes."
"No, I mean would you like to live somewhere else?"
Blake shrugged her shoulders. "Not really. I love it out here. Why? Do you want to move?"
He shook his head. "No. Just making sure that you have everything you want, sweetheart."
Blake lifted her head so she could look at his face. "You're telling me that if I wanted to move, you'd sell the farm and move?"
"If that's what you wanted."
Her mouth popped open in surprise. "Caiden you're insane. Why on earth would you sell your family farm, the place I know you love and adore, for me?"
"I do love this place and it would hurt to leave, but I can make new memories elsewhere, on the new farm we'd buy."
She shook her head, still not believing the words coming from his mouth. "I don't want to leave, but even if I did, I'd never ask you to do something like that. You're too selfless."
"I'd do anything for you, darlin."
"I know," she whispered, placing her hand on his chest.
Caiden stood up from the ground and walked toward the horse. She watched him pull something from the saddlebag, but she couldn't see what it was.
Sitting down on the ground next to her again, he pulled her into his lap before pulling a small box from the inside of his jacket.
Her heart started to pound as her eyes followed the box. He opened it and inside was the most beautiful ring she'd ever seen.
"Marry me," Caiden said. It wasn't in the traditional form of a question, but rather a demand, leaving no room for debate.
"Marry you?" She repeated, making sure she heard his words correctly. Her heart was still racing.
He nodded his head, repeating his words. "Marry me."
She smiled a large, bright smile before wrapping her arms around his neck. "Yes, Caiden. Yes, I'll marry you!" She squeezed him tightly and he squeezed back with equal fervor.
