Nick POV

After 20 minutes of George leaving Tubbo with me and Clay, he actually started to get a lot more comfortable.

He sat with us and spoke about how excited he was to have a new family, he also mentioned being a little scared of all the changes.

We had only taken one break so far and that was to eat the food George's mum had cooked.

"Is George's mum nice?" He asks, cuddling into his bee plushie.

"She's lovely, you guys will get on great" Clay smiles, lifting one of the mattresses we took from downstairs onto the bed frame.

"She seems like it, will I get to go to a proper school?" He asks, sitting closer to me as Clay puts the bed sheets on.

"Yeah! You'll get to meet some new friends, some your own age. Have you been to a school before?" I ask and he nods.

"My mum was a school teacher, she helped me with my homework and stuff but I didn't really have any friends there" He explained, his mood had dropped.

"It's okay you don't have to talk about your mum if you don't want to" Clay assures him, putting the pillows onto the bed.

"She had been ill for a while, when I got home one day I- I found her on the floor and she couldn't breathe" He hugged into his plushie more.

"I called an ambulance like she taught me but she didn't make the journey...that's when I had to move in with my dad" He wiped his eyes and I couldn't help but feel bad for the kid.

"Is that when you met George?" Clay asks, finishing the bed by putting the quilt on it.

"Yeah! He told me he was a friend staying for a while but I soon figured out that wasn't true. He protected me like my mum did, even if he had consequences" Clay raised an eyebrow and I shook my head at him, not wanting to question Tubbo for our answers.

"What kind of consequences?" Clay asks, sitting on the bed he just made and patting a spot for Tubbo to sit on.

"I didn't always see them, George tried keeping me as far from it all as possible but I still heard him scream, I felt bad I didn't know how to help him" Tubbo frowned, taking a seat next to Clay.

"How do you like your new bed Tubbo?" I ask and he gives a warm smile.

"I love it, thank you for making it for me" He gave Clay a brief hug before walking over to me and giving me one too.

It shocked us both but we were glad he was getting comfortable enough to initiate contact with us.

"I'm going to go find George, why don't you guys go find a film for us all to watch tonight?" Clays asks and Tubbo nods.

"Okay!" Tubbo faintly smiles, dragging my arm with him.

Clay POV

It had been longer than George originally said he was going to be which worried me slightly.

I walk downstairs and put my shoes on, leaving the house and hoping George didn't go too far.

He said he was going out for air so I figured he would be around here somewhere.

Next to the house was an oak tree, underneath sat George facing away from the road with his back against the trunk.

He was picking at the grass beneath him, seemingly away with his thoughts.

"Hey...mind if I join you?" I ask and George looks up to me, giving a faint nod before returning to what he was doing.

"They're now putting a film on inside, do you want to join us?" I ask and he shakes his head, looking around at the ground beneath him.

"Why not? What's up?" I ask, crouching down in front of him.

"Nothing..I'm just really tired" He says, his voice croaky but he clears it.

"You can sleep during the film if you want, you don't have to watch it" I offer and he shrugs, pulling his hoodie sleeves over his hands.

"It's fine, was Tubbo okay with you guys?" He asks, standing up from the tree as I stand back up too.

"Yeah he surprisingly warmed up to us both, he's with Nick right now" I faintly smile as he rubs his eyes.

"Let's go inside and join the others then" He says, stepping away from the tree as I follow him back inside.

He looked and seemed absolutely knackered.

We take our shoes off and see everyone grouped up on the mattresses.

It was going to be a lot more crowded now that there was one less mattress.

Tubbo greeted George immediately as I sat down beside Zak.

I couldn't help but worry about George.
