Cadenza has already been sent off to get ready. As for myself, I'm still in the middle of preparations. I have sent Taryn off to retrieve me something, and it's been a bit of time since then. I am dressed, but my hair is still to be styled amongst other things.

Alex's letters sit in my hands, the chest hidden under the bed like the original intent. Only myself, Laurance, and Taryn know of the letters. No other servant knows of their existence. No other person, except the pair that wrote them themselves, know of their existence except us.

Each letter contains of its own secrets. I've taken it upon myself to each and every one of them. I've organized them by date, and I'm almost to more recent times. While I wait for Taryn, I'm seated at the desk reading away.

Our letters remain to be something I cherish very dear, for I have found a great friend in you even if these times seem to be dark. You have managed to form a light for me that I am forever grateful for. No amount of gifts from the prince could woo me over like your kind words. I just wish that times would be more forgiving and understanding.

The doors behind me open, but I worry not because I know it's Taryn. She's received the jewels I asked of her.

"Taryn, I'm glad you-" My words fall short. "You aren't Taryn."

I look forward, spotting a female in simple attire, much like what I would wear in the village. Her hair is pinned back plainly. Not much effort having to be put in.

"You must be a new servant. I'm expecting my lady in waiting. Would you retrieve her for me?" I asks, lifting an expecting eyebrow before turning back to my papers. When I hear no footsteps nor the sound of the heavy door opening and closing, I grow confused. That isn't until there is footsteps, but they're towards me.

Panicked, I quickly stand, placing the letters against the desk as I look forward. I swallow the lump in my throat. The look in the female's eyes is cold as she looks from me to the letters.

"Who are you, and how did you get ahold of those?" Her voice is stern, her words seeming unforgiving.

I reach for the letters, but she appears to be quicker as she beats me to them. They're held in her grasp as I try to retrieve them back.

"Give me those back," I demand, trying to hold my ground and look intimidating. "I am your princess, and you will obey my orders. If not, you will suffer consequences."

"You have no right," she tells me, her chin held high. She lets go of the papers, letting them be crinkled at the side before returning her hands by her sides. She takes a step back, eyeing me up and down.

I return the gesture. I find her to be out of her place. A commoner demanding against one that is higher than she is. I narrow my eyes. "Who are you?"

The door opens once more and quick footsteps follow like a shadow. The female turns her back to me to look at Taryn. Taryn lets out a gasp but refuses to move. "Princess?" She whispers.

"Princess?" I repeat, confusion lacing my voice while my eyes lock on the two females in front of me.

The female turns around to face me once again, her stance poised and tall. "Princess Alexandra
Zvahl. Who are you to be in my resting chambers?"

"Laurance why didn't you warn me before I made a fool of myself?" I asks, my words hushed as we walk down the hallways together. "What is to happen with me now? She's returned, and she has already come off with seething hatred for me."

"You read her letters. You know things you shouldn't," he tells me, shaking his head. He lets out a shaky sigh, unsure of the situation himself. "We're too far in to send you back to the kingdom. I am unsure if my father thought clearly about it."

"How did she see know the letters were her's?"

He looks at me, biting his lip from nerves. "She must've saw something that set it off. For now, keep up the act until we truly know what's going to happen."

I agree, though I cannot say it is wholeheartedly. For now all I can do is act like I belong here and try to make amends with the princess. But at this moment, I must focus on Cadenza and smiles my most believable smiles not to ruin this day. I could never forgive myself if I did for she has done so much for me as it is. Though, I am uncertain what happens beyond this point.
