Once Kira was nine months pregnant, she was excited, but nervous. She and George were by the front door as he was about to leave for work and attend a meeting. "Do you promise to come if they come?" "I promise. If you go into labour, I'll get to the hospital as quickly as I can." Kira then felt the pup's kick.
"They're kicking." George gently placed his hands on her stomach and felt the twins kicking. "Daddy has to go now. I'll be back. I promise." He kissed his mate and made his way to the car. Steve walked down the stairs and saw his twin leaving the house. "Thanks for staying Steve." "It's not a problem. I promised to help and I will."
Kira then felt the kicking get worse. She held her stomach with both of her hands and she suddenly felt something. "I think my water broke." "I'll call an ambulance. Let's get you into a comfortable position."
George got to work and entered the meeting room next to the office. "Good morning George." "Good morning." "Take a seat. We're just waiting for Eli." He then entered the room. "I'm here." "Now everyone's here, we'll start the meeting."
Kira was in agony and shouting at Steve. "I need George!" she screamed. "I can call him, but we need to get you into an ambulance before I call him." "Now!" Steve then said, "I'm calling the ambulance now."
Once Steve got through to the operator, he told him the situation. "Okay, is she on the floor?" "Yes. I've got her as comfortable as I can." The warriors were ready with towels in case the pups arrived at the house. "Kira, the operator said if you feel a contraction, you need to push." "I'm not pushing without George!" "Kira, you have to help us. We're helping you, just try and help us."
When the ambulance arrived five minutes later, Kira was helped by the two male paramedics. "They're still not out. Are you pushing when you feel contractions?" "No! Not without my mate!" Steve was still next to Kira and the paramedics gave her something to try and ease the pain while they got her into the ambulance.
Once inside, one paramedic got into the back of the ambulance with her and Steve while the other paramedic drove to the hospital. "Where's your mate Kira?" the paramedic next to her asked. "Work," she managed to say more calmly. Steve then called his twin.
George was listening to his manager in the meeting room. "And that's my plan to help boost sales next month. So-" he was cut off from a ringtone. George apologised and pulled out his phone and saw that it was his twin. "I'm sorry, I have to take this." His manager nodded and he left the room and answered the phone.
"Steve?" "It's Kira, she's in labour. We're in the ambulance." "Thanks Steve. I'll be there as soon as I can." He hung up and entered the meeting room. "I'm so sorry everyone, I have to leave. My wife is in labour." His manager then said, "of course. Go. Good luck." Everyone else wished him luck as he then thanked everyone before grabbing his things and leaving the store. He made his way out of the store and to the car and began to drive to the hospital.
Ten minutes into the drive and George began to hear a siren. "No. Any time but now." He slowed the car and pulled over. He rolled his window down as he saw a police officer get out of the car and walk towards him.
"Hello there," he calmly greeted. "Hi officer. I know I was speeding. My wife. Please, she's in labour." "Is this your first-time speeding?" "Yes, I'm sorry, but I really need to get to my wife." "And, where were you?" "I was at work. My brother called me to say she's in labour." "Licence and registration?" He quickly grabbed his registration and drivers' licence before giving them to the police officer.
He impatiently tapped his fingers on the steering wheel while he waited as he just wanted to get to his mate. He then saw the officer approach him again. "Everything is in order. I will give you a warning this time, but please do not speed again. I'll give you an escort to the hospital." "Thank you, officer," he gave George his licence and his registration back to him and went to his car before getting in front of Georges' car. The sirens were sounding again and they were on their way to the hospital.
