The next morning, George was at work while Steve was recovering at his house. He told his manager that he was up all night looking after his twin. He told him it wasn't a problem and that he was to return the next day.

Steve was still on the sofa while Kira helped her brother-in-law with his fever. "At least your fever is better than it was." "Yeah. I'm sorry about this." "Don't be. You're still adjusting." "Can I have some water, please?" "Of course," she gently replied as she then looked to Zander. The blonde headed warrior left to get some water from the kitchen. He returned a minute later with a glass of water and gave it to Kira.

She took it from the warrior, thanked him and carefully tipped the glass to Steve's lips. She looked at his face carefully while he was drinking. She saw that he looked overheated and exhausted, but that was due to the pain he experienced during the night. Steve then stopped drinking and Kira placed the glass onto the table next to the sofa.

"Did George get to work safely?" "Yeah. He talked to dad about last night." "What happened?" She took a deep breath and told him what happened. "Well, when you were in pain, dad called for Malcom to help you. He snapped at George because he was only concerned about you. He apologised and they're fine now." "Good." He closed his eyes and reopened them for Kira to see that his eyes had turned black.

"Hi," she gently greeted. "Hello Kira. I'm Alec." "It's nice to speak to you Alec." "Likewise. I take it that this is normal?" "Yes. You'll adjust soon. It takes time. George took a while to adjust once Hunter began to help him." "Okay. I'll give Steve control again." "Thanks Alec." She watched her brother-in-law close his eyes and shortly opened them to show his regular brown eye colour.

"Welcome back Steve." "Was that my wolf?" "Yes. He just introduced himself. His name is Alec." "Oh." "What is it?" Steve then remembered about his brother's friend. "It's close to his friends name." She nodded. "That's true. We'll discuss that once he's home." He nodded. "How are you feeling now?" "A little bit better." "Good."

Meanwhile with Claire, she was on the sofa with Christian and her parents. "So," her father began. "Are you thinking about working at the hospital Janet?" "It's either that or at the doctor's office." "Either one will be fine." "I know."

Christian then said, "well, whatever you choose mum, we'll be proud of you." "Thanks Christian. I know you're all proud of me, just as I'm proud of you and Claire." They all looked to her and saw that she wasn't paying attention.

"Claire?" her father asked. "Sorry," she said apologetically. "Were you with your thoughts again?" She nodded. "Do you want to talk about it?" "Well, it was only about the little girl that we helped." "It wasn't your fault. She wandered off and she was attacked. You're not to blame." "I promised to look after her." "I know. You were doing well. Please don't let what happened get to you. Nothing was your fault. Just remember that she's in a safe place." She nodded.

Claire then looked to her mother. "Why don't Claire and I go out for a while? We'll have mother and daughter time and you can have father and son time with Christian." Claire then looked to her father and nodded. "Why not? You girls go out and we'll do something until you get back." The two females got up and left the house.

"So, Claire," her mother began. "How are you doing?" "Well, I'm starting to feel better after what happened with that little girl." "You'll be fine after a while. It does take time." "Have you ever had to say goodbye forever to a child before?" "Yes. When I was at the hospital before you were born. I was working around pups and I had to help baby pups. Unfortunately, I had to comfort the parents because the pups died." "That sounds so sad." "It was sad to see it happen to the parents, knowing that Christian was only a young pup."
