George POV

It couldn't have gotten any worse for me. I had no idea what to do now.
"You have to get through this day. Then we have weekend. Everybody will forget it, for sure", Nick told me calmly while rubbing my shoulder.
I buried my head in my arms that were resting on the table while whining.
"Does anyone have ideas what you want to do now?", the teacher eventually asked.
No one said anything.
"Alright, then I guess, we'll do lesson", she said.

The rest of the day actually went pretty normally. Even after school. As usual. I got beaten up by Clay's crew. And him. The only thing that was different. Since that time Nick refused to participate. I thought I really could find a friend in him, maybe.

"Are you a simp for Clay now, huh?", Zak said while punching me.
"NO!", I said over and over between the punches.
Zak had told the other guys what I had said. The thing with Clay when we had to say a hot thing. That stupid rash shit.
"Shut up", Clay said, laughing.

We were there behind the school again and I got thrown punches into my stomach and face.
"The depri is gay now, huh?", one of the guys said.
"I'm none of it!", I screamed at him before getting a damn hard kick in my stomach. I coughed.
"okay, let him go for today", Clay finally said.
They left me alone and disappeared as always. I sat there, leaning against the wall, my hand pressed on my stomach because of the pain.

I put one hand against the wall and tried to stand up.
"Wait!", I heard Nick screaming over to me.
"Nick", I said relieved.
"Hey bro"
It felt really good to have established contact with him. I think he really liked me and I liked him pretty well too. He was nice, cool and extremely understanding.

"Lemme help you, alright?", he said, bending down to me and grabbing my arms. He helped me up and let me lean on him.
"Can you walk?", he asked.
"I think so. I've survived worse fights", I sighed.
He slowly let go of me and I started to walk forwards.
"Thank you again, bye", I waved at him with a smile and made my way home.
"Wait", he ran after me, "I come with you"
"Okay, if you say so."

We arrived at my house.
"Hey, you want to come inside? I can make us some hot chocolate", I suggested.
"Yeah, I'd love to", he said with a huge smile.
Then I opened the door and we went inside.
"Sit down", I pointed over to the couch.

When I had made the hot chocolate, I walked over to him sitting on the sofa and gave him one of the two cups. I smiled at the memory.
"Why are you smiling?", Nick asked giggling.
"Hh, well you know", I began, "this one time, when Clay didn't come to school, you beat me up,..." He pressed his lips together. "Yeah."
"Clay was at my house this day when I came home."
He looked over to me.
"When I had opened the door, I passed out. Clay helped me. He- he...When I woke up, he brought me hot chocolate." I smiled again, but it fainted real quickly when I remembered what our current situation is back again.

"Ouh, right. That was the day he told me about", Nick eventually said.
Now he had my attention. "Wh- what did he tell you?"
"He said that he started to feel something for you", he smiled weakly at me.
"Feel- fe- what? What feeling?", I asked stuttering.
"He wasn't sure then either. He was totally confused. And I couldn't quite tell what it was either, but now I know for sure."
"So? What do you think?", I leaned closer to him.
"I think you have to find this out for yourself. I told him the same thing." He drank a huge sip from his chocolate.

I gave him a confused glance. "Wait, I- what is he feeling?"
"Didn't he tell you already? Isn't it that what had happened?", he looked at me expressionless.
"Why is he like that then now?"
"George, you have to-" His phone rang.
He took it out and started to smile when he looked at it.
"Who's texting you?", I asked curious and leaned to the phone.
Karl.

"Karl?", I giggled.
"Y-yeah, he's a really nice guy."
"But I thought you don't know him."
"Well, I didn't, but after school, we talked and then he gave me his number. And we-", he stopped when he saw a huge smile on my face.
"You like him?", I asked with a flirty voice.
"You like HIM?", he asked the same way.
"What? Okay, shut up. No, that's not true. But...well- yeah, I- okay, shut up", I looked away to hide my blush. Why the fuck was I blushing when I thought about Clay?

"Talk to him. He's too stupid to handle his feelings on his own", he said, patting my shoulder.
"Then you have to promise that you get more contact with Karl", I smirked at him.
"I was going to do that anyway", he laughed.
"Wait", he said after a small pause, "do- you like guys?"
"Well, actually I don't, no."
Then he looked at me suspiciously.
"Why are blushing when you talk about Clay then?", he said with a weird voice.

"I'M NOT!", I tried to defend myself, even I knew that it was true.
"Sure", he giggled.
"And you? Do you like guys?", I asked in the flirty voice again.
"No. Actually, I don't."
"Well, I said the same thing my dear", I said raising an eyebrow
Then we both laughed.

"You know", he eventually said, "sometimes you don't actually know your feelings yourself. Or rather, you don't want to admit it to yourself. Just follow your instinct and-...I'll be there for you."
"Tha- no, wait, Clay is bullying me. I- that all was just dreaming. Why was I thinking that he actuall liked me. I don't even know if I even like him myself-" He cut me off.
"George, he doesn't like you. He likes you more than just liking you", he smiled at me with raised eyebrows.
"George, just do whatever seems right to you. I won't help the others to beat you up anymore. I couldn't do that anymore, you became kind of a good friend to me. But I won't stop the others. You can handle your life by yourself."

Then he stood up and put his cup onto the kitchen table.
"See ya", he waved at me smiling before leaving the house.
