[Chapter Eighteen: Hawk's Nest]

Two days had passed after I completely recovered.

Headmistress called us earlier that we'll have a quick meeting later at the same room that we gathered last time, the day has finally come, our mission to get the case is finally back.

This makes me nervous too, I may be a monster to any missions that I had but I nearly died in this one. Agaw-buhay ako sa kalagayan ko at ilang araw pa bago ako nagkaroon ng malay but I'll make sure that this will be accomplished.

"Intelligence Officer Dacheu." A person who got the higher position than mine called me while I was heading to the meeting room.

"Sir?" I turned around to see the Executive Director, he was holding a box.

"Since you're here, I would like you to bring this to the third floor at the fourth door at the left. Place this on the table." Utos niya saakin at walang-pasabi na binigay saakin ang kahong dala niya, it was heavy enough but I can still hold it.

"But sir, I have a —"

"No buts, Miss Dacheu. Bring that to the office at the third floor, now."

I sighed heavily and nod a bit as an answer.

I looked at the Director again, he was looking at me carefully.

"... Is there any other things you want me to do, sir?" Nag-aalangang tanong ko.

Nang matauhan siya, he slightly shook his head.

"Nothing, child." He looked at me again, "He... He'll be so proud if he'll get to see you now." He fixed his uniform before turning around and walking the other way, leaving me unmoved and frowning.

What was that?

Sinundan ko ng tingin ang Executive Director na papalayo ng lakad.

Maybe he just suddenly thought one of his grandchildren, he's surely around 70 already. And he's the longest personnel who still got a position in the organization.

Umiling-iling nalang ako bago nagsimulang maglakad sa pinakamalapit na elevator, when I got inside of it and reached the third floor, I immediately look for the fourth door.

I hold on the doorknob when I finally found the door, nakabukas ito kaya walang hirap na tinulak ko ang pinto at tumambad saakin ang abandonadong opisina. Just on how it looks, it totally looks abandoned. Medyo madilim ang loob at maalikabok ang ilang furnitures.

I took a step in and walks towards the main table at the middle near the window.

Pabagsak kong binaba ang kahon at agad humampas sa mukha ko ang mga alikabok ng lamesa, I coughed while closing my eyes.

"Why the hell they didn't even care to clean this place?" Reklamo ko.

I looked around, binuksan ko ang bintana na malapit saakin at binuhol ang kurtina na nakababa. It brings a lot of light in the office.

"What a pity." Sabi ko sa sarili ko bago nagsimulang maglakad pabalik sa pintuan but I suddenly stopped when I stepped on something.

"Director... Director, do you copy?"

"Don't call me, just say your words, Charlie."

Nakakunot ang noo kong tumingin sa sahig kung saan nakita ko ang tape recorder na natapakan ko.
