I looked over at him from my position on the bed. Here I was worn out, on the brink of passing out, and the man looked ready to run a marathon. It was almost nine a.m and I knew I had to go soon. I had to receive the bed that was being delivered. Now that my carnal needs had been satisfied I was ready to talk again, I didn't want to leave Dante.
"What are you thinking about so hard over there?" He was standing by the open window where a slight breeze filled the room with crisp morning air, rejuvenating my tired senses.
"I'm not ready to leave you yet," I replied honestly. He smirked and lifted a single eyebrow.
"It was that good," I could see his egotistical head inflating by the second. The damage had already been done. I threw the only pillow in his direction and failed terribly. It didn't even land in his direction .
"Shut up Dante," I looked around the room, trying to find my clothes, but it was completely bare. The only thing in here was the mattress that I was currently lying on and the pillow on the floor.
"Where did my clothes go?" I was in desperate need of a shower and if I knew Dante at all it was only a matter of time before he asked me to join him for one.
"I threw them out, they were bloody and torn. I didn't think you would want them back." He shrugged nonchalantly as if it were no big deal that I'd be parading around his apartment and possibly all of Chesterfield naked. Okay. I was being a tad bit dramatic, but I really had to go if I didn't want to end up sleeping on the floor tonight.
"Dante, I need a change of clothes. I have a delivery coming this morning and I really can't miss it." I got up from the lowered mattress with the thin sheet wrapped around my small frame, groaning when my old bones snapped at the hip. I was attempting to keep my modesty, but it was all in vain with a man like Dante nearby. In seconds he was in front of me tugging at the fabric with a devilish smirk.
"Why do you always insist on covering perfection?" I bit my lip as I stared into his obsidian orbs, feeling giddy and hopeful despite the bullshit that has been hurled at us.
"You have such a way with words," I laughed as I danced away from his touch, glancing at all the doors to see if I could locate the bathroom.
"It's not in here," I looked over my shoulder at the demon from hell with a questioning gaze but only received a silent smirk in response. I groaned as I turned to face him.
"What," There was sass in my voice but even I heard the underlying mischief. There was something about me that missed the hunt and there was nothing I wanted more than for him to give chase.
"You know exactly what I want princess," He titled his head, goading me with a wink into doing unspeakable things. I felt my core dampen with desire at the small gesture. I giggled as I shook my head, slowly I backed away from the room and with that, from him. It didn't take long to see the lightbulb go off, his empty eyes sparking to life. "Don't." There was dominance in that one word, a finality in the deep timbre of his voice that had me shaking in excitement as every bone in my body urged me to defy his simple command.
I knew the price I had to pay when I chose to turn on my heel and run out of the room. The sheet that was once firmly tied into place loosened as greedy fingers grabbed at the cotton linens. I shrieked in fright, almost slipping on the sleek floorboards, when I felt his soft but firm digits skimming the back of my neck. The door was left ajar and I barreled through it with a battle cry worthy of a warrior.
At that precise moment, I had been morbidly embarrassed for the second time in front of a stranger. If the ground could have just opened up and swallowed me whole, I would have thanked the heavens graciously. I paused, lowering my gaze to the floor, physically groaning in mortification, and waiting for Dante to explain why a strange man sat in the living room gnawing away at his lip piercing.
