I was sitting on the roof with Zack, just taking in the view as I played my ukulele.
"You know, I quite enjoyed tonight."
"Even though I had to risk my life to save the rich fucks and the people we care for?" I joked.
"I wasn't that worried. I knew you'd win."
"Oh really?"
"Of course. It is in your last name of course."
"Oh ha ha." I told before we both laughed from it.
"Does anyone of them know?" He asked making me shake my head.
"No. I'd rather keep it that way. I mean, it's one thing knowing my brother is a killer and my uncle was on the fbi's wanted list..... but if they found out who I'm related to..... I'd think they wouldn't know how to handle knowing who I'm related to. It would make sense on why I am the way I am when it comes to fighting. I grew up like my cousins, and they didn't want to risk me getting hurt. I mean.... Saving people is apart of the family business."
"I get that. But I can also see..... your tired of pretending your River Finley. And I know that's apart of who you are, it always will be. But I know you, and I know you'd rather be called by your actual last name."
"Nik was right.... it hurts more having to pretend I'm a Finley."
"Good thing I'm here then. You don't have to pretend with me." He told making me smile.
"And neither do you."
"I feel like we should tell the others that I was set up with the cannibal thing, if they still think I worked with a cannibal."
"We did. They just weren't listening."
"I worry about them a lot."
"Same Zack, same."
"Have you learnt any new songs?" He asked making me smile.
"Yep! I plan on playing it for Spencer soon, but I don't know if it sounds right all the way through."
"Good thing you got me. Besides I miss being able to listen to you sing all the time."
"You've got what's her face." I told making him laugh.
"That's true. But there's always something about you singing, that just relaxes me. I do like when Ash sings and plays her guitar, but she also has this thing about not letting me hear the finished product of a song due to it being released and not wanting to spoil it for me."
"I get that. I mean we had that song that I wrote about you."
"I quite like the song. Though I don't think anyone but us knows the true meaning of it."
"Yeah.... I'm gonna avoid talking about it with my team." I told making us chuckle together.
"You gonna play the song?" He asked poking my cheek making me smile.
"Yeah, no more diddle-daddle."
I began to play the cords on my ukulele and got ready to start singing.
"If I could begin to be
Half of what you think of me
I could do about anything
I could even learn how to love
When I see the way you act
Wondering when I'm coming back
I could do about anything
I could even learn how to love
Like you
I always thought I might be bad
Now I'm sure that it's true
'Cause I think you're so good
And I'm nothing like you
Look at you go
I just adore you
I wish that I knew
What makes you think I'm so special
If I could begin to do
Something that does right by you
I would do about anything
I would even learn how to love
When I see the way you look
Shaken by how long it took
I could do about anything
I could even learn how to love like you
Love like you
Love me, like you."
As soon as I played the last cord I look towards Zack to see he was smiling towards me.
"Sounds lovely Rio."
"Thanks Mac 'n cheese. I'm glad you enjoyed it."
We sat in silence as I continued to play random songs, and soon a car pulled up in front of the house. We both watched to see it was my team climbing out and making there way inside, and I noticed that they were helping the girls and Derek in. Spencer looked up and saw us chilling making us wave to one another before he helped Penelope into the house.
"They seem like they had fun." Zack told as we smiled.
"Too much fun it seems.... The boy band kept drinking when we got back didn't they?"
"Oh everyone is going to have a headache in the morning."
"I can not wait!"
"Me neither."
'It's moments like these, that I miss living in Washington with him.'
