"Hey, you're the new girl, right?" Keigo asked, calling after you as he walked over to you down the hall, a few other kids following after him. You stopped in place, facing the boy and messing with your fingers. It was funny, he always had a crowd, while you were alone.
"Uhm, yeah, I guess." You muttered, unsure of what to do with yourself with all the newfound attention on you. "Well, you got a name, new girl? Or should we just call you that?"
All the kids with him laughed at his comment, while you were still fidgeting nervously, not finding it humorous. "(Y/n)."
"I'm Keigo. It's nice to meet you, (y/n)."
And ever since that very moment, the two were inseparable, Keigo spending most of his time with you. You had no idea why he spent so much time with you, unaware that your quiet and closed-off nature made him very curious. He wanted to get you to open up to him and show who you truly were and after quite a bit of time, you did. And you are beautiful.
--
"C'mon, let's go!" Keigo exclaimed, holding your hand and pulling you alongside him down the sidewalk, over to the crosswalk. It was sort of a tradition you had, going out to the shopping center right next to your middle school every Friday, doing your homework and hanging out, messing around in the different stores.
You were always happy to get your homework done with since that meant you could just spend the weekend to relax, but with Keigo, it seemed like his work was endless. Like he always had some more to do, even when he was finished.
And there you two sat together in the fast-food restaurant, doing homework and fooling around. Keigo stuffed fries in his nose, usually making you laugh so hard soda would spill through your nose, making you cough and get all embarrassed.
Once you two finished, you walked from store to store, looking in some, and not going near others. You would hang around them so much that some of the shop owners knew you and him by name.
Some were fond of you two, and some never let you near their stores again. (i.e, when Keigo chased you around with this creepy figurine in this antique shop and you smacked face-first into a shelf of glass plates, knocking it and a bunch over, and giving yourself a nosebleed, and your mother had to pay the store five hundred dollars due to the damage, and you were grounded for a good three months.)
--
"I don't know if I can do this." You murmured as you stepped onto the skateboard. Keigo always used his skateboard to get around, while you had never gone near one in your life.
"Well, you're not going to get anywhere if you're unsure of yourself." He told you with a smile, helping you up onto the board.
You jostled around slightly, struggling for balance, almost falling over, but Keigo caught you, keeping a hand around your waist, the other holding your hand. "Here."He smiled at you, making your face warm, and you cracked a small smile back. You never had a big smile back then, since your braces made you insecure, while he secretly found them cute.
He moved his hands from your waist to your chest, and under your armpits, spreading your arms wide, slipping back down to your waist. "Now put your foot down, and push."
You did as told, pushing your foot off the ground, and leaning over the board slightly, managing to keep your balance. You managed to catch on quick, getting the hang of it.
"I'm doing it. Keigo look." You said with an excited grin. "Great, now we just have to get you your own board."
--
Keigo ran his fingers through his hair in frustration as he studied, rereading the page of the book for the fourth time already, still unable to process it. He was exhausted, tired, and miserable, and you knew he needed a break. So, you sat down beside him quietly, not saying a word.
He looked over at you, his expression softening, and he let out a long sigh. "I'm really sorry I haven't been able to hang out lately, I just need to pass this test."
"Here, why don't you take a break from that?" You asked, slipping a bookmark in the book, shutting it, and pushing it aside. "Let's go take a walk, or go get something from the vending machine?"
You knew how much pressure the school and his family were putting on him to succeed. You knew he was at the top of your class for your grade, and you also knew that he was just a kid. You both were, and you made sure he could still have a bit of childhood, instead of having to grow up so fast. And he was thankful for that.
--
But Keigo's favorite memory was when you two were in eighth grade, soon to be in Highschool, and going to a party he found out about to prepare. They were all playing seven minutes of Heaven, and of course, when he spun the bottle, it landed it on you.
So you both went into the closet, and you were very nervous. You had been since you came here. But Keigo managed to keep you calm.
"It's going to be okay." He told you, taking your hand in his, and caressing the back of your hand softly with his thumb. "This is just a dumb game. I won't hurt you, I promise."
His other hand cupped your cheek, making your face grow warm as he stared into your eyes. "Can I kiss you?"
You nod shakily, letting him lean in and press his lips against yours, molding them with yours. And that was your first kiss, and his. He pulled away, after a few moments, smiling at you.
He held you close in his arms, resting his chin on your head. "Keigo, can I tell you something?"
"Hm? What is it?" He mumbled, letting you go and looking down at you. You messed with your fingers.
"I like you, like, like-like you. A lot." You confessed.
"I like-like you too."
--
And now, here you stood in the hallway with Keigo, right after he confessed his love to you. After so many years went by, after so much time, his feelings never changed. But it seemed that yours did, which he completely understood.
"What you said to me was kind, and it meant a lot, but I want to be with Dabi. I just want to see how things go, and maybe, maybe if something happens, if my feelings change, I'll change my mind. But for right now, why don't we stick with friends, okay?" You asked, and he nodded, despite his heart feeling like it was splitting in two.
He could feel Dabi's eyes on him, but he didn't care. Because you were touching him. You were holding him gently and hugging him. "Take care of yourself, alright? Goodnight, Keigo."

"Rise and shine, pretty boy."
