You and Spinner have spent the past couple of weeks planning, and now that your ankle's fully healed, you can finally act. You can finally get out of here.
Unfortunately, Dabi's not stupid. He knows the moment you fully heal, you'll try to run, and he's been extra cautious with you. He barely even leaves Spinner alone with you, and when he does, he's waiting upstairs.
You've been doing what you can to build his trust. Acting like you're slowly starting to understand the intentions of his actions. Like maybe, you'll be able to love him again, despite knowing it's impossible.
It seems to be working, and slowly, yet surely, he's lowering his guard and trusting you again. Each day you feel like you're getting closer and closer, and today, it seems you've finally got your chance.
"I have some errands I have to attend to. Can I trust you to lock up?" Dabi asks, handing him the keys. Spinner nods, remaining stoic, despite feeling himself jump at the opportunity. "Leave the key under the rug after you go, and make sure the others don't come in unless you or me are there. I'll be back in a couple hours."
With that, Dabi handed him the keys, before leaving, getting into his car and driving off. Spinner hesitated as he stares into the keys. This feels wrong.
This is too easy. Dabi wouldn't just trust him like this, unless he truly believes he's made some progress with you. This has to be a test. He's probably just around the block, waiting for Spinner to mess up, to make one mistake and he'll end up just like Shigaraki.
Or maybe..maybe he does have a chance. Spinner desperately wants to help you and set you free. And it doesn't look like he's coming back..
Spinner spends the next half hour struggling with a decision, before he finally returns to the bar, and walks down into the cellar. There he finds you lying on the bed, sleeping.
Gently, he sits on the edge of the bed, staring at you and admiring your features. Even after everything you've been through, you're still so beautiful.
Reaching over, he shakes you, mumbling your name. It's not long until he rouses you from your sleep, your eyes fluttering, and your lips twitching. You roll over on your side, looking up at him.
"Spinner? What's happening?" You mumble sleepily, glancing up at him.
"Dabi just left and gave me to the keys to the place. I know it's pretty risky, but this might be our only chance for who knows how long, and I think we should take it. I'm getting you out of here."
You sit up at that, so fast that your brain gets a rush. "You really think we can do this?"
"It won't hurt to try." He shrugs. "Here, let me go get the keys to the handcuffs." (Since the rope had gotten too rough on your wrists, Dabi opted to switch to handcuffs, which wasn't much better, but something you got used to. )
After grabbing the keys and double checking to see that the coast is clear, Spinner returns to the basement. He walks up to you with a smile, and unlocks your hand that was cuffed to the bedpost, freeing your hand.
You rub your wrists, and stretch your arms, and your legs. Who knew freedom could feel so good. Excitedly, you got to your feet, and you feel light. Like nothing is holding you down.
You're finally going to get the hell out of here.
You run up the stairs, and the sun feels so nice against your skin. You never thought you'd find the city so pretty, and you feel amazing.
You turn back to Spinner with a big grin on your face. "Thank you, Spinner. Thank you so, so much. I owe you...everything."
You wrap your arms around him, pulling him into a hug. He's surprised at first, but then slowly hugs you back, holding you close.
"Let's get you out of here." He tells you, and you smile, pressing a small kiss to his cheek, before letting him go.
What happens next happens fast. You open the door and step outside the building, but then you hear something, a loud bang! You turn to see Dabi holding a smoking gun.
Processing what just happened, you turn to see Spinner, with a bullet between his eyes. No. No. No. No. No. No.
You run over to Spinner and stare down at him, holding his body close to you, feeling as it goes limp, as all life leaves it. He's dead , and it's all your fault.
"That's what you get for trying to fuck with me and my girl." Dabi hisses between gritted teeth. But you're not listening to him. You're far too focused on your loss. You're crying. For Spinner, for yourself, maybe even, for Toya.
"I knew you would betray me. I knew it all along. But I thought by now you would at least accept that you're never going to escape. You'll never be able to leave me, (y/n). You're mine. Always have been, always will be."
"I'd rather die than be yours. So just do it. Shoot me. Kill me like you just killed him." You spit bitterly. "If you don't, I'll scream-"
"We both know no one will hear you. Be a good girl, and go down to the basement." You shook your head, holding Spinner's corpse close to you.
"Fine. Then I guess I'll just have to make you." He pockets his gun, turning on the safety, and saunters over to you. "Last chance."
You don't budge. So, he grabs you by your arm and drags you off of Spinner. You do what you can to fight him off, but he's too strong. You're kicking, punching, and screaming but his grip doesn't waver.
He forces you to the basement and handcuffs your hand yet again, leaving you in the exact same place you were stuck in before.
Your plan had failed.
